| Do your yorkies behave this way? Spikey turned 10 months old on 7 May. When he was a puppy, he never barked at strangers and was a sweet little thing. Now, he will bark at anyone when we take him for walks. He will also bark at people when he is in the car and I'm holding him. Sometimes he even growl. I often have to tell him "no barking" 2 times before he will stop. It is very embarrassing when I take him for walks and he will bark at every single soul that walk past us. He doesn't bark non-stop but he will bark once. The only time when he doesn't bark at them is when the person never give him any eye contact. I won't consider him agressive but just behaving like a "terrier" He is pretty shy with other dogs and show no interest to play with other dogs. I've tried the coins in the container. I've tried holding his mouth and tell him no barking. He will stop for a while, then he will start all over again. I wonder if this is yorkie's nature. |

| Can't see any problem if he "barks once." He may be saying "hello." I'm not sure "growling" is a good thing - but let's see what others have to say. My pup doesn't behave the way yours does. Mine always runs toward other people. He is really a "people lover." And, he is always anxious to meet other dogs and will run to them... go up to them on his stomach and then turn over on his back and lick their face. He really has a "winning way" with everyone. ****** No - I don't let him run up to strange dogs (he would if he could..). The dogs I'm talking about are ones in our neighborhood whose owners know them to be friendly with other dogs. And - we're still careful. Carol Jean |

| your wee doggy's still a puppy - and may just be entering the rebellious teenage phase. It drew me insane when Dougal was going through his teenage phase. But once he turned two he was much better. you might like to try the dog listener's techniques useful, just google jan fennell. Hope this helps.

| Louie also used to be very quiet and I could take him anywhere.....now he goes crazy barking when on a walk and we see people. I dont even take him to stores in his bag anymore because of this. Also if someone comes to the door both Louie and Bella go crazy barking, they stop after the people have been here for a few minutes but man that initial barking goes right through me. I have been sprying them with a fine mist water bottle lately and it does help. Good luck.

| Barking babies My little Dylan who is 4 months old now barks at everything. He barks at me when I get home from work, always barks at my husband when he enters the room, barks at birds, other dogs, shadows, strange noises, he even starts barking when he wakes up in his crate to let us know he is up. When I got him at 8 weeks old, my chihuahua didn't like him so she would growl at him. He would bark at her and if she kept growling he would turn his little butt towards her and just look around at her and continue to bark. He thinks he wants to be the alpha dog but my chihuahua who is 4 yrs old has other ideas. She still growls at him as he is kissing her face and licking her eyes. Dylan does quit barking if I pick him up and tell him to stop. My other yorkie was not nearly this vocal. |
