| Traveling with yorkie? We always take Ginger with us, but it's not always easy to plan great things to do. With summer just around the corner, I'm anxious for some getaway time! Just curious, what travel adventures have you had with your yorkie? Where is your favorite place to go? Your most pet-friendly experience?

| www.dogfriendly.com has the top 10 resorts for pets (and their owners) www.petswelcome.com is also good for finding pet friendly accommodations. We take Shelby everywhere but haven't planned a vacation around her "yet" |

| We take Winston to Hendersonville, NC a lot. The shops there are so dog-friendly. Winston loves to hike at the Pisca National Park (Spell??). He out walked us. We want to take him to the beach this summer.

We just moved to NC! I am going to have to check it out! I love vactions with Keeley. Last year we took Keeley to Traverse City Michigan and had a ton of fun. We hiked on the hills and played in the lake. It was his first swim! Watch here! http://www.dropshots.com/day.php?use...1&ctime=000000 ) We have gone camping a few times with him and he loves it. I bet you could find lots to do, anything outside I am sure would be great. Good Luck! | |

| Roger actually goe's every where with us, He rides in the backseat of our pickup truck has a full back seat to himself, he knows thats his place and stay off the drivers lap as he would preffer to do. He stays in motels with us well, he goes to inlaws and trips alot, The only thing he hasnt done yet, is ride the harley with us much, he doesnt care for the loud sound, I could carring him in our front pack, but I don't want him scared, Doesn't make it fun for either of us if he scared. But he has a blast ever where we go. He even likes going to the vets. Rena |

| If you visit Texas, San Antonio is very dog friendly. They are welcome on the riverwalk, the Alamo, the market square, and a whole lot of other attractions (pretty much everywere). All of the the restrauants on the riverwalk allow dogs as long as they are well-behaved, leashed, and you sit at the outdoor setting (which is the best place to sit and have lunch/dinner). Most of the hotels allow pets, but some do charge a pet fee which is ot much. Heck you can take you dog to Six Flags Fiesta Texas, they have a kennel on site for your pup to hangout at for the day. |

| Last summer we took 2 looooong, multi-day trips with Rowdy. We were gone for a month on the first trip. We have a fifth wheel travel trailer that we pull, so it's sorta like home. We have an x-pen that we set up outside, as long as it isn't too hot - which it usually isnt' because we travel in NM and CO. We also have a stake with a long leash so that we can stake him out and let him run some. The only downside to traveling is that they have to be on leash all of the time. Rowdy isn't used to that becasue he has a backyard to romp and play in on his own. He does OK and after a couple of days, he's just fine - although I know he perfers to be off leash. The first trip to NM/CO, we traveled 3500 miles in the pickup. One consideration is that if you travel in the summer, is stopping to eat. It is usually too hot to leave them in the car, so you are eating lots of fast foods and/or picnics. We are fortunate that we have a diesel pickup so we can leave it running to go in to a restaurant, but we do that only occasionally. the second trip was in the car, without the trailer, so we stayed in motel rooms - that's OK, but it is better with the fifth wheel. Rowdy loves to "go" - anywhere! this will be the first summer for Rexy (4 months) and Rowdy (15 months). I'm sure it will be interesting with 2 of them. We will be taking the trailer and staying in NM/CO for 6 weeks. We have a double car seat for them to ride in the back seat. One caution is stopping to let them potty - the grass at rest stops or around gas stations is full of trash and you have to watch them constantly, even on the leash, so that they don't eat something like cigarette butts, etc. Rowdy is VERY picky and I didn't worry too much but Rexy will eat ANYTHING so I know it will be a challenge with him this summer during potty breaks. Both of our guys sleep most of the time on long trips, so they are no trouble. Good luck traveling with your baby - they are a delight! I call my guys "chick magnets" because I will leave my hubby on a bench ouside a store (that doesn't allow dogs) and when I come out, there will be a passle of women around my husband, ooooing and ahhhing over the dogs. I know my hubby (secretly) loves it!!!

| Everywhere My Yorkie goes with me basically everywhere and when she doesn't she still gets treated like royalty. My brother stays at my house when I travel and makes sure she is well taken care of. The places she has been to are jacksonville fl, ATLANTA FL, Orlando fl, and that's pretty much it. I do plan to take her to New York with me soon... That should be her greatest adventure yet. Everywhere she has gone has been very pet friendly...And why not everyone loves Yorkies....Right????

| Where Mitzi can't go, we don't go! She travels with us everywhere and we always make sure the Hotel/Motel is petfriendly. When you search with hotels.com they have a search feature "pets allowed". I think that's very helpful. We also take a baby play pen with us to give her some sort of feeling home. It's also helps us not to worry about her when we have to leave her alone in the hotel room and the room maid comes in etc. Have fun travelling! |

| I took Reuger on a trip for a weekend to visit my aunt who lives 3 hours away. He did really good on the trip. He gets car sick so we didn't let him have any food until we got there and we put him in a doggy car seat so he could see out of the window. I made sure that I had a chain to tie him out with and belly bands for when he was in the house. (He did mark on one wall---I was so embarrassed!) My aunt was very impressed with him and he's welcome to come back any time. We're going canoeing and camping this summer and I'm planning on taking him with me. This will be Reuger's first summer so it should be interesting.
