| ![]() my alexander 4 months old gets neutered friday. the vet said on his last visit 2 weeks ago he had a fluttering heart beat or something. then she said do you want us to go a (ekg)--i'm sorry i don't know what it is called, but testing his heart---i just wonder if they just want to run the test for the heck of it, because the first visit heart beat was perfect then that second visit he definately knew where he was and was shaking. and she checked the heart beat and she said it skipped. then she waited 5 minutes and checked it again and it was normal. oh---my husband, of course says they will run ever test on your dog if you let them and i'm the type that says---oookkk! but just like you i'm a little worried about the operation too, but it isn't as bad as the girls. because my alexander gets to go home that day and my moms girl had to stay overnight. oh i do remember seeing something on the internet about putting them to sleep--gee, i don't remember what it was i know it started with a (p)-make sure they use that to put him to sleep, most good vets have this, just ask what they are going to use to put him to sleep and say you heard there was something that some vets use and some animals don't wake up from this. sorry i can't remember, but please ask your vet and it should start with a p. |

| ![]() I was soooo scared about the neutering but low and behold, he was fine. When I brought him home he just slept. The vet gave me some pain medication for him to get in the morning and at night for a week but the next day he was his old self!!! I had to keep him from running and jumping, which was no easy task but he only had the medication for one day and night then he was just his normal self. The only downside is I can't bath him for two weeks. Good luck to you and I am sure things will be just fine. By the way, my Eddie is just six months old now and I just love him to pieces............................Teigan |

| ![]() Best of luck tomorrow. Carter's neutering was textbook -- had liquid stitches and did great!

| ![]() We will all be thinking of Newf tomorrow. The anesthesia that "Alexander" was trying to think of is isoflourene I think. That is what I was told you should make sure they use on these small dogs. I was also warned that some vets don't have assistants during surgery to save costs, but there defintiely needs to be a second person monitoring the anesthesia and the puppie's vitals besides the doctor conducting the surgery. I would just inquire about this. I am sure Newf will do great and you will be relieved to have it over with! |
