My Yorkie is 5 months old. One ear is up - other not. What to do?

I am by no means an expert, as Moe is my first Yorkie to raise, though I have been around many Yorkies through my life....so all I can say is...Moe had ears that did as they wanted for a while, when he got to about 6 or 7 months they became up , instead of flopping down at times..... they just did it on thier own , after he was older you know and the muscles were fully strong....cant say much else cause I am not a Yorkie expert. Hello and Welcome to YT!!!! My scampers did the same thing, one ear went up and the other one was still down. Try shaving the ear and taping it, that is what I did with mine and now both of his ears are up and have stayed up. Try to always keep the hair on the ears very short, if they have alot of hair on the ears it will cause the ear to stay down because of the weight of the hair even though it does not seem like much to us it is enough to keep the ear down.

The ear will probably go up on its own. You could shave and tape the ear. Ears go down when they are teething.

Have the ears always been down or have they gone up and back down?? Sometimes the ears will flop down during teething. This might be the case or maybe there is too much weight on the ears. You can try shaving the back side to relieve some of the weight. That was usually help out. Keep them shaved until they are good and up.

Her one ear was up about 2 months. She is 5 months and has lost about 7 baby teeth. Her other ear will go up every now and then - but won't stay up very long. Do you know how to tape them up? What kind of tape and exactly how do you do it?

BoBo's ears was standing for awhile and now they go up and down all the time...i think they will stand on thier own so i didnt bother to tape them...i did shave the back of them and cut around the edges of them also and that seems to help....good luck

Kizzys ears are now standing up most all the time. one still not as erect as the other, but to me her ears seem big. Does anyone elses yorkie seem to have big ears? lol I told hubby after they started standing up maybe we should have named her dumbo. rofl. not really that big but their not tiny either. Is this unsual. here is a picture, dont they look big to yall?

My guy has big ears as well, they just keep getting bigger and it seems like he could just fly away with his ears, lol. His ears are big compared to the rest of his head. I don't have a recent picture of him or I would post it. As big as his ears are I am suprised that they are standing up. Alot of yorkies seem to have big ears so no it is not unusual. Your girl is adorable and her ears don't look that big to me.

lol thank you . If she grows into her ears, wonder if she will be a 10 lb dog. lol. I hope not but I still think she's pretty anyway. wish you could post yours pic. thanks for the compliment.

My Sebastian has huge ears!! I just got him groomed for the first time and by the time I got him home his ears were standing straight up.I literally thought he would fly away!! They were trying to stand up before I got him groomed but I guess it was all the weight off his ears that made them stand up like that (unless he knew he was cute!). They are starting to drop a little now. He is four months and weighs about 3.5 lbs. I think his big ears are cute. If he never grows into them, it won't bother me. I will post a picture very soon of my Seb.

Kizzy is 3 months and weighed 3 lbs at the vet 2 weeks ago. she might weigh 4 now, lol. not sure, but she goes back next week and I'll know then.

So I gave up trying! but maybe when he's older

hes now 15 months old and no difference? they looked cute when they were taped up! I had them taped for 4 days and as soon as I took of the tape they flopped again, so what's a person to do with a floppy ear yorkie.. LOVE him just the way he is.. here is pic's before and after

Kizzys has just started staying up all the time pretty much the last couple of weeks. I was beginning to wonder if they would but i liked them both ways. Your is fine too, cause we love them no matter if their ears are up or down. Kizzys made her look more baby to me when they were flopped down. lol
