Does Anyones Yorkie Live Outside?

You know, is it possible that people who live in the city or in subdivisions don't quite understand what us "country folk" have to offer our outside dogs? We have lots of land with beautiful views (not like the dog really cares about the view) for her to run and romp. Like I said, ignoring an outside dog is shameful. Loving an outside dog is not a sin and no one should be put down for having one (or more).

That's how I get them in sometimes .... I close the door and they come running......I need a picture of their sad faces - it's too cute. I could never ever leave a yorkie outside unless I was right there with them.

and everybody has that right to do this and do that. I have been told that I should buy my yorkie more things an dit would make me a better owner...sorry that i dont buy Mason 10 outfits with shoes every week. Does that make me a bad owner? NO..he has food, shelter and love just like my labs do.. there pen is like a kingdom. All im trying to say is that saying were abuseing our animals because they live outside is stupid and shouldnt be said.

well i have a beagle who is outside mostly but she does come in all the time! im not a bad dog owner at all though, cause im always outside playing with my dogs and giving them water and bathing them. but my other dog perla cant be inside, she gets too ancy and starts sratching the doors. i think you can have your dogs outside if you take proper care of them. although my dogs are out alot, they are also in here alot too.

I agree with Kristy too. I think it is wrong to leave a dog outside all the time. My neighbors have 2 dogs they leave out no matter what the weather is like.

Mine get the independence of going in and out freely through our doggy door but I would never intentionally leave them outside. They are so sensitive to the weather. I don't know how anyone could do that!

All our dogs love being outside. They are the happiest most friendly dogs ever. They enjoy themselves outside and I don't think they would evn want to come inside. Why would they want to be locked in a house all day rather than running through streams and playing in fields with each other. Sometimes I feel bad for Lucy and Tank being locked inside b/c they want to be out playing with all the big dogs

Exactly!!!

There are ppl who have inside dogs who are treated worse then outside dogs. Because it's so NOT cruel to leave your pup in a crate all day while you work. Yeah... right... or in an expen the size of my arms in a circle. Sheesh...

If you're taking great care of your outside pet then there is absolutely nothing wrong w/leaving it outside 24/7.

Again, not ALL dogs are truly meant to be indoor dogs. They are - at the end of all arguments - animals. How far would you go with this.... all cats inside (mine are outside to be mousers but lounge on the porch like princesses)? Chickens? Inside? I know that may sound silly but where does it stop? Same as there are people on this board that baby their Yorkies way, way more than I think is necessary. It's almost borderline embarassing sometimes. BUT do they get flamed for it? To each their own...

If someone says to me "what's the big deal... it's just a dog" they are going to catch hell from me because my dogs are my children just as my skinbabies are BUT they are still dogs. You wouldn't put a kid in a crate and call it "good for them" yet we do with dogs. Why? Because they are dogs. I love Tatum and Stormie just as much as all you love yours but we acknowledge that one is "inside dog" and one is "outside dog". Sure, Stormie would love to be "inside dog" too and my husband would really love it but such is not the case. There really is nothing wrong with that.

It's just that the extreme opinion of "no dog outside ever ever" is a little ridiculous. But again, we can agree to disagree.

exactly.....you know its pretty darn good when the animal control officer stops by and sees us to tell us how great out pen is and our dogs looks and other ppl saying "wow", you really love your dogs dont ya?" YES we love them all. There Never whine or anything to be let out because there let out all the time. They are very well taken care of... I have found people like to pass judgement on things they have no experience in at all except maybe a relative has this dog or cat or bird or whatever..thats not experience. I also think its true that the Big city ppl dont understand the counrty life...my dogs are not on a chain they have a damn pool to play in during the summer, they can run on my 2 big FENCED in lots for as long as i want them too. They are not abused. Yes there are some ppl that abuse there ouside dogs, they dont take care of them and so forth but thats not everybody that owns an outside dog. I have also found that ppl that can afford to buy their animals 200.00 worth of crap a week like to pass judgemnt also on those that cant basically saying we cant take care of our yorkies because god forbid they dont have 20 pairs of shoes and 20 pairs of jammies and so forth. I dont look down on anybody that buys their dogs all this stuff, I think it's great but some of us in this world find better uses for out money like dog food, vet care, etc. little frills I do, 200.00 a week sorry i guess im just a commom country folk that cant afford that!
