| rabies shot This past week I took Norm to get his rabies shot. Within 10 minutes he was vomiting. Another 5 mins. and he was limp as a wash rag. Norm had to be taken to an all night emergency hospital where he was kept on an iv and given meds during the night. Now he seems to have developed a cough or sneeze. I want to make sure anyone that takes their yorkie into get there shots is aware of this. Norm is not able to have more than one shot at a time. I will never allow a rabies shot to be given again. This happened at his first rabies shot also. Has this happened to anyone else? I am worried any watching for any bad signs. Please becareful with your babies! |

| Was he given any other booster shots? Some furbabies can't be given more than one shot at at time. Unfortunately, some do have negative effects from the shots.

| How scary! Fortunately, Florida law allows for an exemption from the rabies vaccine: §585.69. Rabies vaccination of dogs and cats (2) A dog or cat shall not be required to be vaccinated against rabies if a licensed veterinarian has examined the animal and has certified in writing that at such time vaccination would endanger the animal's health because of its age, infirmity, disability, illness, or other medical considerations. |

| Our vet will only give rabies shots at almost a year and then we were only given a year long shot then Bella gets the three year shot. She did not react with the lower dose. I cant imagine how scary that was!

| Hi, I inherited my Yorkie Monty from my son and his wife after having a new baby. I am new at the injection scene therefore I had no warning. Yesterday I took Monty to a Clinic at Petco. He received a rabies & parvo injection, and bortonella in his nose. After arriving back home in a few hours he was lethargic. He has not eaten since yesterday and only drank water once.I just tries to get him from under the bed and he growled at me.I don't know what to do. He may have been sick when he got the shot. I am sixty and on limited income so I can't afford the emergency room. What can I do? |

| Thanks for the help. He came from under the bed last night and seems to be better. He ate alittle and drank a little water, so I fed him water with an eye dropper. I won't ever get him those shots again. |

| These shots are not necessary after the first initial puppy shots, not even Rabies. Also the serum used in shots can be very different from one Vet. to another depending on what company he buys it from. Yes, it's all scary stuff. My little Delsi (Chihuahua) who died of a stroke a couple years ago never got shots and was never sick a day in her life. I do know some requirements do need to be changed especially the ones that won't allow the dog to fly commercially without current shots, and from the TDI rules: STEPS TO BECOMING A THERAPY DOG<BR> My Delsi passed all the tests, then when they wanted a Vet. to attach his reason as to why she has had no shots, he did state that she cannot take the shots or it will kill her. They still turned her down. So yes, new rules need to be added.

| Coral had a bad reaction to her rabies shot also. While we were checking out she started vomiting everywhere. FOrtunately we were still at the vets office so the rushed her to the back and gave her a few other shots to counteract the reaction. I was so scared, she was only 5 months old. Now she has to take benedryl before every shot. I don't know what we r going to do when she needs it next year!

| Does this reaction mostly happen to tinies? When I took Uni to get her shots she got DHPP and rabies 3 year, and she was fine. She's a bit over 5 pounds.
