Dog smell hi everyone: i would try to do a topic search but i don't know how to narrow it down. my family has 2 yorkies. the first one we bought from a good breeder and he came to our home without any smell. the second one, we somewhat adopted at 8 weeks old and she reeks of odor. we have bathed her several times and still cant get the smell out. could anyone suggest what to do next?

I think some dogs have stronger body order than others, just like humans. Do they both eat the same kind of food? If the smell is really bothering you, try using Earthbound, leave-in conditioner, Almond and Vanilla I believe. The smell is VERY strong and sweet. It'll linger in the coat for at least three days. Aggie was a smelly dog when she first came too. I changed her food and it seemed to be better but the smell was still there. I used that conditioner and it seemed to have worked.

i use Lambert Kay cologne drops for pets - it takes one drop and lasts a long time and smells like baby powder. i bought it at Petsmart for 4.99. at 8 weeks she is really just now due for her first bath, i would smell in her ears and make sure it's not an ear infection, check in her mouth to make sure a tooth isn't infected, and check her anal glands to make sure they're not swollen. also diet can affect the way a pet smells. i've never had one that a bath didn't take care of the smell.

Romeos Mommy - You might be right. Oily dogs may have more of an odor. My pup was very oily, and he did have somewhat of an oder then. He is no longer oily and has no oder at all. -------------------- OR --- a person posted once that they noticed their Yorkie's oder mostly around the "eye/face area" where the eyes were running - and he attributed the oder to this area. He said he had to take a washcloth and wash his little pup's face often to get rid of this oder. Surprisingly - I noticed a stronger oder in this area also. But only when my dog was a little pup -- he has no oder at all anymore. Carol Jean
