Can't believe some people
I have been really upset recently by some of the things I have read in the news in this country. There's been a few stories on the radio and in the news about cruelty to yorkies, two in the past month, the details are too disturbing IMO to even post a link on the site. I can't help but read them though and I KNOW I am gonna get upset by them.
How can anybody be so cruel when my younger sister read the stories she cried for hours (she loves yorkies and has a 7 year old).
I know it's not just yorkies ALL dogs get abused and ill treated and I feel for them all, but having Smudger makes me look at him and try and imagine what I would do if anyone hurt him the way these 2 yorkies in the news have been treated. It's just so horrible and how could they have done it
I makes me think it doesn't matter if he chews my jeans, laptop wire, or keeps licking my face when he's had his head in the bin. I love my dog so so much

I Know I think the abuse of any animal is wrong but with having yorkies I really cant understand how anyone could be so cruel towards a yorkie. My Husband and I wont even spank ours when they do something wrong. Yorkies are such babies.

I don't read all the threads here on YT regarding animal abuse - I see a lot of it on "Animal Planet," see it in the newspapers, hear about it on the radio and TV, and even see it on the streets and hear about it from friends.
It upsets me - it's not a lot of money, but I send $50 a year to the Humane Society to help care for animals. And, if there is ever anything I can ever do to help an animal, I'll be the first one there.
I don't mind hearing about abuse - because it does exit and we need to be aware of it and try and put a stop to it - but I'm not a person who is in a hurry to see heartbreaking pictures or read detailed heartbreaking stories. These stories stay on my mind for days -
I'd rather volunteer at the animal shelter, send in a donation, take in a rescue, or help a puppy find a new and better home. For me, being pro-active and helping is healthier than "crying for days."
Abuse is not a new thing by any means - I am not young and can remember animals being abused when I was only a child. It certainly is a sad state of affairs, and we should all be willing to do whatever we can whenever we can to help stop it.
A Yorkie is worth a thousand words.
