I don't read all the threads here on YT regarding animal abuse - I see a lot of it on "Animal Planet," see it in the newspapers, hear about it on the radio and TV, and even see it on the streets and hear about it from friends.

It upsets me - it's not a lot of money, but I send $50 a year to the Humane Society to help care for animals. And, if there is ever anything I can ever do to help an animal, I'll be the first one there.

I don't mind hearing about abuse - because it does exit and we need to be aware of it and try and put a stop to it - but I'm not a person who is in a hurry to see heartbreaking pictures or read detailed heartbreaking stories. These stories stay on my mind for days -

I'd rather volunteer at the animal shelter, send in a donation, take in a rescue, or help a puppy find a new and better home. For me, being pro-active and helping is healthier than "crying for days."

Abuse is not a new thing by any means - I am not young and can remember animals being abused when I was only a child. It certainly is a sad state of affairs, and we should all be willing to do whatever we can whenever we can to help stop it.
