| Wee Wee Pad or Lobster Bib I came home Friday to a very unusual sight. I've been having trouble with getting our puppy to leave his wee wee pad alone. He takes it out of the holder and drags it all over his x-pen. After getting advice from some members as well as our breeder, I decided to use newspaper. Even though I was switching to newspaper, I wanted to have a supply of wee wee pads on hand, and when I was at Walmarts, I bought a package from a different manufacturer. When I left for work on Friday morning, I decided to give the new wee wee pad a try, thinking that maybe another brand would make a difference. When I came into the mud room on Friday evening, I was astonished at what I saw. Our puppy had eaten/torn through the new wee wee pad, somehow gotten it over his head and in an attempt to get it off, had made a noose of it. Fortunately, it did not get very tight and he is fine. I, of course, felt great relief that he wasn't hurt and very guilty because I knew the pads weren't working--although I never could have imagined that wee wee pads could be a health risk! | I bet that was a scary site. I was always afraid the plastic pieces wuold get stuck int he wind pipe. I went to the crib size mattress pads for my little ones. I got 4 of them. they stay pretty clean and I always have a back up handy. I just do a lot of washing. less expensive and safer.

| What kind of holder do you have? My boys used to do that then i got a holder from Drs. Foster and Smith and that seemed to put a stop to that. This is the holder I got http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Produc...&N=2001+113858 |

| We have a plastic holder that comes in sections and snaps closed. Would you believe our little rascal can take it apart. He scratches at the wee wee pad, pulls it out of the holder, then shakes the holder and the pad. He's definitely not happy being left alone during the day--he's wonderful on the weekends because he gets so much attention. From what I've gathered from other members, he will eventually get through this period. My only concern is that he not get hurt in the meantime. The cotton pads won't work for us, but I think the newspaper will be best for the time being. |
