| Help And Now Please I came home today and found my Yorkie not herself. It has been 6 weeks and one day that I had to put her mate down and today it seems like Jazmine has lost her will to live. I have tried to do her favorite things but nothing is helping. How long will she grieve? Any suggestions? If I lose her I do not know what will happen Thanks for listening. Jim |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Oh no! Is she eating? Give her nutrical that may perk her up a little. Did you mention you were going toget another puppy soon? That may help. I would also try and take her for walks or rides in the car anything to distract her. The poo baby. When I lived at home I had a big Yorkie Karma and my sister had a Sheltie Lance. When Lance died karma wouldn't eat and was very mopey. It took several weeks but poor Jazmine has been grieving a long time. Is it possible she is picking up on your sadness? Have you tried getting her around other friends dogs to see how she reacts? I'm just trying to think of things to help you both. Keep us posted.

| This is so sad...and I agree with Patti about giving her special attention. Are you 100% sure nothing is wrong with her physically? Have you tried cooking up chicken and rice or hamburger..anything to temp her to eat? How old is she?

| I'm so sorry! You know the Dog Whisperer says that dogs pick up on our energy and act accordingly. I know she is grieving herself - but she is also picking up on your grief. I'm not sure what you can do to change your energy, but I think it might help. Maybe someone will have some suggestions. Have you tried her favorite foods or a special treat? Can you take her for a walk or outside - to break the sadness in the house? A new puppy will certainly give her something else to think about!!! Good luck!

| Have you tried taking her to a dog park to see how she acts around other dogs. Maybe she is ready for a new dog. My daughter lost one dog early this week and the other dog a, chocolate lab, has been so clingy, and when they are gone he just paces the floor and drools. So tonight they had someone bring a border collie puppy over and the lab was sooooo happy. So of course they bought him. Of course if you're not ready, I can understand, but maybe Jazmine is ready. |

| I think you've been given some good suggestions. Chloe would not want you to be grieving. Try getting out with Jasmine and doing something fun. Best wishes.

| Oh this is so sad. I've never experienced your situation but I agree with the others. Does she have a special treat or food she likes. Maybe take her to be around other dogs (if you can do that). Take her for an outing, just the 2 of you. I hope she will be ok and you two can find strength together. |

| So sorry for your loss and now having to worry about the other one. None of my pets have ever grieved for more than a couple of weeks, but i do make sure they see their friend after she passes. They really seem to understand death. How long had yours been together? My vote is to get another one and put a smile back on both of your faces. |

| My female went through the same thing when Ty died and she almost grieved herself to death. The ONLY thing that pulled her through was I went out and bought a yorkie for her. It didn't happen over night it took time but little by little she came around. But I have to say it took her a good year to get back to almost normal. She never became as she was before he died but now she's happy..just more reserved. I'm not saying that will help her I don't know but it's what helped Tasha..I"m sorry for your loss and hers. I wish there was more i could do.

| When Max passed away three years age Lucky greived it is so sad, I wasn't really ready for another yorkie, I had Max for 17 years, but got Maddie for Lucky. As soon as I got Maddie, Lucky perked up. Three years later I have 4 yorkies and Lucky is in yorkie heaven. Lucky is 16 years old and I think the yorkies keep her young.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Poor baby....I agree with everyone else...they pick up on our feelings....Maybe get her around some other dogs she likes ? Or take her out on a little special trip ? OR.....maybe think about another to keep her company ? you didn't say her age but maybe some special food to keep her energy up ? I know it's only been 6 weeks since you lost your little one but that can help you both with your grief..and I'm sorry for your loss.....All the best to you and I hope she feels better.. |

| I would have someone come over with another dog and just see how she reacts to that. If they hit it off, it may be that she is craving canine companionship since she had it for so long. I would be open to any of the suggestions you received here. There has certainly been some good advice given and I hope something helps your poor girl. I am so sad for both of you!
