| Yorkies are the smartest Dogs OK, I have come to the decision that I think Yorkies are the smartest dogs out there. We have to spell things around our house. Katy knows alot of words. Yesterday, her treat ball was empty. She rolled the ball over to the cabinet with the treats in the so that I can fill it! |

| LOL We had a yorkiepoo that hated baths. A friend insisted that she did not understand the word, that it was the tone of voice. Cause everytime she heard the word her ears would go down and she would go under the sofa. So to test her, in the middle of a sentence of normal conversation, I would just add the word bath and she would put her ears down and hide. She also knew biscuit and ball and Betty, a friend that she loved. They are pretty smart. I love to see how hard they work to see if they can teach us to understand them. |

| Lucy caught on to fetching really quickly... she brings the toy back and drops it if she wants to play fetch or if she wants to play tug of war then she'll keep it in her mouth..... Well after a while she would get lazy and put the toy about two feet out of reach and make me get up to throw it for her.... so now she's learned IT's TO FAR.... she'll drop it two feet away and walk up to me and I say it's to far and she'll go back and pick it up and bring it the rest of the way to me..... Crystal

| Oscar is very smart and has learned a lot of words. One of his favorite new words is "Wosie"!!! We can't wait to meet her and her momma and daddy in June. Funny thing is, I even know HIS words! He can look at me a certain way, whine a certain way or bark a certain way and I know EXACTLY what he wants...they are so very smart! I will always have a Yorkie in my life! Always!!!

| I don't know if they are the smartest dogs but a dog that lives with you and watches your every move will soon pick up where you hide the treats. I too agree that they not only recognize words but I think they can read your mind too. I only have to think about brushing Debbie and she runs into her little dog house. |

| I swore one of my yorkies could read my mind. When we would eat we would occasionally cut a small bite for her. She always seemed to know when I was cutting a bite for her and not for myslef. I have not idea how she knew but she would sit up and whine. |

| Cooper hates his kennel, (crate), hated it from day one. We have to spell that word or he will run and hide. If he is misbehaving, my son will say "Do I have to get out your kennel" and he will immediately stop doing whatever it is and behave.

| Yep, they sure are smart, I love it! Every time I say "Bridget, ready for your walk?", she'll run to the rack where her leash and harness are and wait for me to come put them on her. So cute. She also just adores my mom, so whenever I say "grandma", she gets really excited. |

| i watched an interesting show on dogs once. it wasn't a yorkie, but they were showing that there was a telepathic communication between dogs and owners. they placed a camera in the home and then drove the owner home at a different time than usual in a different vehicle and the dog went to the door and waited when the decision was made to return the owner home. each time the dog somehow knew when she was on her way home. |

| I was just thinking the same thing the other day. I commented to hubby that I can say to Nikko, "mommy's going to take a bath now" and he won't react but the minute I say "Nikko YOU want a bath?" he goes crazy and does his little happy dance. He loves to take a bath because he gets lots of treats in the tub. He also knows cookie, outside, food, toy, bone, kissy and lots of other words. My favorite to use is "can". Whenever he gets too barky I say "Nikko, you want mommy to get the can?" and he shuts up right away. I have this can I shake with pennies and he absolutely hates it. The word "can" alone does the trick now!! These little guys are way too smart!!
