I think it’s a good thing. I agree that most of those that are irresponsible in the first place won’t get their dog licensed nor will they get them spayed/neutered. However there are all sorts of things we can say that about, irresponsible people are going to do it their way anyway, so I’m still for it. I think they will definitely get more people spaying/neutering their pets with the ordinance than without.

I can see your point Nazir and agree to a certain extent. I disagree because not having animals spayed/neutered is costing the state/city/county (which ever) money. It’s causing more animals to end up in shelters. Docking or not docking doesn’t really affect the number of animals in shelters therefore causing the state/city/county to dish out money to take care of them. I just don’t they they’d be concerned with the fact of whether someone is docking their puppies tails or not when it doesn’t effect them. But at the same time I can see people(the ones who want to stop declawing, docking etc.) seeing it as a step forward, a step towards being able to say what we can and can’t do to/with our pets. I can see them almost using this as a reason to push more, if they can make them have their pets fixed they can make them stop docking their tails.

Hmm…I guess just because something seems great doesn’t mean its not going to cause other problems. I guess I'm still for it though, I hate going to shelters and seeing those little faces looking at me.

I understand your point but the thing that we should all realize here is that there are many laws in place that are not enforce. With that being said, people are going to do as they do. If they were irresponsible pet owners before the bill passed they'd still be the same even after the bill passes.

The only people that this will truly affect is those that wish to do right by their pets, they will be the ones affect by this the most. They are the ones that have registered dogs and health records making them the easy targets.

Yes, and most bills of this sort will only allow an opening for even more bills to pass. Wheter they be reasonable or not. Personally, I willing spay and neuter my pets. I microchip my pets, so this bill doesn't cause me any conflict; whether it passes or not.

The problem will come when you are being told when and how you should do it and believe me, that's coming next because it's only the underlined writing within.

When it's all said and done, only those whom they can find will be the most affected by this bill and I dont know about you but personally, I dont like anyone constantly looking down my back.

I don't, and no matter how many bills are placed and/or enforced, irresponsible pet owners will always seek a short cut. So now we'd possibly have spayed, neuterd, and microchipped pups BUT they wont be taken to the vet for their initial check up visits after they've been whelped.

As I stated before, it's just a catch 22 but I do understand the problem that you are attempting to eradicate.

IMO--the only way to eradicate such a problem effectively, would be if we as people; the consumers and the breeders, were to purchase, sale, and breed in an ethical, responsible, and educated manner. Point Blank!
