I bought Max from a site website called "nextdaypet.com"

Yes I already know FIRST MISTAKE

Anyway, I had corresponded with the "socalled" breeder for several days before making the financial transaction.

One question I asked was is he AKC and she told me no he was NAPDR. I looked that up North American Purebred Dog Regisry. Ok it was a new organization and as long as he is purebredthat's all I cared about

Max arrived 4 days later with no papers. He was flown here.

I have emailed probably 50 times (no exageration) and called about 6 and she never responded. Finally she did responded and claimed she sent the papers. The only thing I received was something that appeared to be an application for the NAPDR with her signature. I called 3 more times and emailed twice with no response.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

I already know I'm pretty much screwed but I love max. I just wanted to know if there was any way I could make her "feel the pain" of her dishonesty

i got my rocky from that site too. and all i got was something simlar to you...some kind of registration paper.

my question to you is this...do you really care if he is a purebreed or have some sort of paper? unless you trying to breed him or sell him...then you really dont need the paper. it is just for show.

When people say they get "papers"... whether AKC or other... it is the application to register the puppy.... the breeder registers the litter.
I would lookup or call the NAPDR (I never heard of it)... and ask them if all you do is send in the form.... more than likely that is all you have to do to get Max's registration papers.

If that's Maxi in your avatar, then that's a 100% Yorkie so don't worry about that. I'm obviously in the UK so I'm not entirely sure what to do but if I lived in the States I'd be inclined to contact the American Kennel Club and the Yorkshire Terrier club (which has a great website and is very informative) and let them know that this 'registration' is being used as standard for purchasing. You could also contact whatever consumer group is in that breeder's state and let them know that she's offering puppies under essentially false pretences. Just let as many truly official groups know so then that registry can also be held accountable because it sounds like a bit of a wishy-washy and far too flexible approach to me. Good luck anyway and let me know if you need any help. He's a gorgeous puppy and you were meant to have him

Thank you all for your replies. I love my Max with all my heart and soul. It doesnt matter to me what he is as far as HE is concerned, However, the people advertised as "purebred" registered

I did look up NAPDR and they exist. I also called. The man was so upset that this woman was using his organization that he actually called them and Voila, I spoke to the husband of the woman who sold me the dog and they are sending all certificates.

Its not about whether Max is pure or not, its about false advertising and the fact I paid them in good faith. I wasn't looking to get my money back, I was just looking to make her feel responsible.

Same here - I got my pup - and a few weeks later, I got the papers that I needed to fill out to get him AKC registered.....but the papers they sent had the necessary information I needed to registered him.

I needed to complete the papers they sent - fill in the name I wanted my pup to be registered under - pay a fee - and send them on their way.

I have done this same thing with two other purebreds I own.

So - you did get the papers you need to register your dog..... you just need to further fill them out - pay your fee - and mail them to the address on the form. And - then you will receive the actual papers showing that he is registered.

This is the way it works!!!!

The breeder can only register the litter. The buyer has to register the dog with whatevr name you choose. The form should have on it, a litter registration number and the names of the parents and the breeder. You fill out the rest and send it in.

that's the way the AKC works. Then AKC sends you the certificate with your dog's registered name on it.

Yup you're right, Snow is wrong. I cannot register a pupppy when I have no idea who his mom and dad are LOL.

Anyway, the breeder did speak with the guy at NAPDR and inturn that guy contacted me. I am getting all necessary paperwork I need.,

Lesson learned!!! I'm headed to a breeder in CT where I can see the pups and where they live.

As i stated before, I adore Max and whoever said he was meant to be mine, really hit the nail on the head. We were brought together somehow and will stay that way

It's not necessary the site itself is bad. It's the breeder that advertised is bad. Don't blame the site.

I also purchased my puppy from the site and I feel extremely lucky to have found my breeder and my puppy.

As with Carol Jean's reply, she's not wrong either. When my puppy arrived, she didn't have the papers with her but my breeder DID inform me that she was going to mail them. And, she did.

The paper simply stated my puppy was AKC registered, it's mom and dad's names. It required my signature and the breeder's. I needed to sign it, mail it in to show that I am the new owner of the puppy. I signed it, paid the fees. Few weeks later, her pedigree was sent to me.

Me again - Not sure I'm wrong - I may not have worded my answer well. The papers I received from the breeder a few weeks after I got my puppy did have the parents names, the #'s, and all the information I needed to register him.

I received similar papers from the breeder for the last two dogs I purchased. One was my Bichon - I did register him. And, now my Yorkie. I decided not to register my Yorkie. I know he is a purebred, but he is only a pet and will be neutered within the next week or two. I see no reason to register him - as he will be neutered and will not be shown or bred. Nevertheless, I know that he is a purebred and could be registered -- but he is only a wonderful, enjoyable little pet to me.

Interestingly - I did register my 4-year-old Bichon - neutered him - and then put the papers in a drawer and haven't looked at them for four years --- And, I'm sure there is no reason I will ever need these papers. This is why I decided not to spend the money to register my Yorkie.

Both my dogs are wonderful loving pets. I have never had any desire to show or breed either one of them.

that's fine, i misunderstood. Why I need these papers is a matter of principle. I paid for a purebred yorkie and I want proof that is what I got.
