Thank you Meclizine!! Finally we were able to take the boyz in the truck with us and no one got sick!!! I gave them their Meclizine 30 minutes before we left and we went 17 miles through town to PetSmart with no problems. They were up high in the truck (Ford F350 so it's big) watching things out the windows and Riley even rode backwards looking out the back wondow...I thought sure he'd get sick from that but he didn't. Now, I know to some this may not be a big deal but we have a 980 mile (one way) trip coming up this week and I was getting nervous but it appears the Meclizine has solved that problem.

Did the Meclizine make your little boys sleepy? I have a little male and occaisionally make a 4 hr. trip one way to visit my kids and grands and my little man will get car sick every time unless I medicate him before I leave out with him. I had tried some over the counter dramamine one time and that didn't work. So I went to the vet and got some doggy car sickness pills. I am to give 1/2 to 1 to my little 4 1/2 lb'er. The 1/2 tab didn't work. Got sick. But when I give the whole tablet, he is out like a light and so wobbly when he begins walking till this wears off. Like it is a bit much for him. But I hafta have something for the little guy or he turns greener than grass before we get there.

No, in fact they were quite normal except for not having the nervousness and car sickness. I got Meclizine from the vet...I give 1/4 of a tablet a 1/2 hour before we leave and they did great today. It says they're 25 mg. so I don't know if that's the whole tablet before they were cut or if each 1/4 tablet equals 25 mg. I also kept their food up for an hour or so before we left. I've heard you can also get the Meclizine in liquid form...mine is a pill, I gave it to them in a tiny bite of soft food and they didn't even know it was there. I'm hoping they'll get used to riding in the truck and after a while they won't need anything.
