What Would You Do? When i bought tike I took him to my vet becauses he was coughing bad. My vet said he was a sick puppy. The owner did pay for the medcine and then my Benji got the same thing. Benji is 4 yrs old never been sick. He did get better but Tike was still coughing. The owner paid for his medcine also. well tike still coughs but only around 3 am to 5 am. doing better. The owner called his vet becauses he was still couhing. We then put him on different medcine. After another wk he was doing about the same better than all the time now just at learly in the morning. When I said he was still coughing the owner decided to take my pup to his vet. He will ony pay for his vet bill. Now the owner said his vet said this very active puppy. did have dry cough when held for tep and after geting very excited cough may be due to excitement induced due to tracheal irritaation.does not interfea with activitly . tRACHEAL IRRITATION MAY BE DUE TO ENVIRONENTAL IRRITANTS such as carpet cleaner which we dont do. bedding etec. Well if thats the cases why did he cought as soon as we bought him and why did benji get it now zip is coughing alot last nite and today. The owner said he will not pay for any more medcine. I said now zip has it he said not his proublem it not cathcing. what should i do? If I take my pup to my vet he can say yes he sick and has this but then what?

if the seller's vet is diagnosing the coughing as tracheal irritation, what is your vet's diagnosis? does your vet say it's something else? what kind of health guarantee did the seller offer? if the puppies were purchased with no health guarantee and both vets say the coughing is the result of environmental issues such as carpet cleaner, then i don't think there's much you can do, other than treat your puppies on your own for the coughs. maybe it's worthwhile to have your carpet professionally cleaned to be on the safe side.

Tike started coughing on the way home from the pet store. He says now that is from being so excited. My vet said he was sick. My vet noticed when I came in that onthe papers it showed medcine he was on but didnt know what it was. He said ask the breeder. I went to the pet stoe. He acted like he did not know so he called his vet, the vet said one medcine was for him to be on becauses they always give puppies that goes off mom milk the other was for a upper respoirtory proublem. That is when we knew he was sick. the breeder said he will pay for the medcine and if other dog get sick, now he changing his story. notheing in writting. Benji is better tike is doing much better now zip has it and i just dont want this to go around and around.

so when you took tike to your vet, what was the diagnosis? sick due to what? did your vet say it's contagious? does your vet have a medical history report from the breeder's vet stating what upper respitory problem tike had? has benji and zip been taken to your vet? has your vet concluded the coughing is due to the same problem as tike? it's very difficult to state a case when you don't have your arrangements in writing from the breeder. if you are concerned with zip and benji's coughing, take them to your vet and make sure it's either the same or different diagnosis from tike's coughing. get a written statement from your vet and go back to the breeder to discuss payment for the cost of treatment. but regardless, it may be worthwile to keep the three dogs separated temporarily pending a treatment plan from your vet to ensure it is in fact not contagious.
