| I had to go to petsmart yesterday for dog food. It is a 2 hr. drive one way to go to petsmart for me. I left my yorkie in the whelping box with her puppies. It took 2hrs. to get to petsmart to find out they didn't have my food in the big bags. They called one of their other stores and found they did have the food in the bigger bags, so I drove another 30 min to the other store to get the food. While we were in the city we had some other shopping and dinner to get so we took a couple more hrs getting that done. We then drove back the 2hrs home. When we got home my yorkie had gotten out of the whelping box and left the puppies to themselves (after eating and drinking all the water.) She then proceded to poo all over my house! (She is housebroke.) We were only gone about 6hrs and she's been left longer before. The poor pups were so hungry when we got home because she didn't know how to get back in with the pups! I was so hot I could've shot her on the spot! (Not really. But I was really mad.) I had to give the tiny pup some nutrical to get her blood sugar back up because she was to weak to get up and eat. I told my husband next time he goes for the food by himself if we have pups here. |

| Oh my. I bet mother was frantic too. She must have had to go really bad to have gone all over the house. I can appreciate your sudden urge to kill though. But I'm glad you granted her a stay of execution. |

| No, mom wasn't frantic. She is ready to be done with her puppies. (They are 6wks old now.) I am glad I gave her a stay of execution too. I don't know what I'd do without her! I love her so much but she can be so aggrivating at times. lol |

| I'm sure we all feel that way at times, and they seem to know when you are having a bad day, and they can get even worse. |

| Donating YT 14K Club Member | Moms with puppies have a tendency to not act right. Gracie...though doggy door trained...will poo and pee in the house when she has puppies. She will also steal their food. Also, have you considered ordering on line? With gas as expensive as it is, you probably spent more driving that in shipping costs. Just a suggestion.

| I went to the one in OKC. I don't have a debit card and hubby said no to the paypal thing. He says I would spend to much money if I had pay pal. lol. He is probably right. |

Maybe if your bank gives you the option of a debit card you could sign up for one? Just a thought....

| When a dog makes a 'mistake' like that one it is not the dog's mistake.

| She has been left for longer periods of time before with no "mistake" and she was let out to go before I left the house. What made me so mad was the fact that the pups went so long without eating. I do not know how she got out of the whelping box because it is fixed so she can't get out unless she climbed but I don't know how a dog could climb a smooth sided box. That is the reason she couldn't get back in (not that she wanted to anyway.) |

| I understand what you are sayig but. each time is not the same one day she may be able to hold it 8 hrs and the next time 5 min. like I said when you got to go , you got to go . lol. If the puppies are 6 weeks old shouldnt they be eating on their own by now any ways?I know my females are done feeding their puppies at 5 and 6 weeks. the milk dont last much longer. Maybe feeding them before you leave the house would of been and good idea.I think shes very smart to have gotten out of her crate to go to the bath room. | shouldn't the pups be almost eating on their own at 6 weeks? And IMO 6 hours is too long to expect a mother to hold it. I am not surprised she didn't want to relieve herself around the puppies, dogs naturally don't want to do that in the area they rest. That is just one of those things about having puppies, you have to watch them closely. Good luck. |

| The mother dog ate all of the food that was for the pups. They have just started eating the soft food. They can't chew the hard food yet. Not that it mattered because mom ate all of that too. She does that with my other dogs too. She eats their food so they don't have any either. As for messing all over the house their are potty pads where she has always used them before down and she didn't use them either. She didn't even do it anywhere close to her pads. She has always had run of the house since she was 1yr old and has never used the rug only her potty pads so I don't know why she did it all over the house. |
