I had to go to petsmart yesterday for dog food. It is a 2 hr. drive one way to go to petsmart for me. I left my yorkie in the whelping box with her puppies. It took 2hrs. to get to petsmart to find out they didn't have my food in the big bags. They called one of their other stores and found they did have the food in the bigger bags, so I drove another 30 min to the other store to get the food. While we were in the city we had some other shopping and dinner to get so we took a couple more hrs getting that done. We then drove back the 2hrs home. When we got home my yorkie had gotten out of the whelping box and left the puppies to themselves (after eating and drinking all the water.) She then proceded to poo all over my house! (She is housebroke.) We were only gone about 6hrs and she's been left longer before. The poor pups were so hungry when we got home because she didn't know how to get back in with the pups! I was so hot I could've shot her on the spot! (Not really. But I was really mad.) I had to give the tiny pup some nutrical to get her blood sugar back up because she was to weak to get up and eat. I told my husband next time he goes for the food by himself if we have pups here.
