| Venting!!!! Anyone want a cat? She's free!!!! Just kidding (I think) She is driving me crazy... First she gets hateful with me. (I can't even touch her anymore w/o getting scratched and bitten) Then she quits using her litter box to pee in, and uses our closet or anywhere else she da** well pleases! Then when we got Parker, our 7mo. yorkie, and would put stuff out of his reach so he couldn't tear it up or get hurt on it, she knocks it off in the floor where he can get it, and makes sure she is around to see him get in trouble!!! NOW she is using his litterbox. Not constantly. Just enough so he won't use it! I think she has it out for him! She is getting so rebellious. Now that we are having a baby, it really has me worried that she is going be the same way around the baby. I don't think I can stand her pottying in/on the baby's stuff, or being very moody around it. I am beginning to wonder if it wouldn't be better to find her another home. I hate to "give her the boot" because we are having a baby, but I am at my wits end! HELP!!!!!

| Does your cat have her own room? This might help. To make the transition easier for our cat when we got a puppy we put a baby gate at the door to the office. This way she has her litter & food in a place the dog can't get into and she has a place where she can relax. This might help.

| Can you make her an outside cat? I have one cat in and one out because my outside cate HATES being indoors..You might can consider that..i know in my experience if a cat uses other places once it will continue and your right..you can't have cat pee all over your baby things and they will go anywhere and can reach anywhere..

| She had her own room, where her litterbox and everything were. We have her food on a dresser thing so Parker can't get it. I don't know what else to do. We live in an apartment, so outside isn't an option!

| I wish you luck! I havent had much luck with cats. Once they start peeing in other places besides their litterboxes they didnt stop. I had to find a cat that we had a new home for that reason.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | You may want to take her to the vets. When mine decide not to use the litter box they have had kitty kidney stones or bladder infections. We used to say the kitty brothers would frame Trace for stuff too Good luck

| If it helps, I have a cat the same way. He doesn't bite or scratch at us. (he's declawed) But he tries to get the dog in trouble, I think he figures if Fiona gets in trouble, we will eventually get rid of her, lol! We had a cat, and we kinda adopted him, when we moved. He would spray (even though he is fixed) in our closet, and we can't leave piles of clothes laying around, or closet doors open. We had to get rid of our other cat when I got pregnant the first time, he would always lay practically on your face if you were sitting or laying down, and he wouldn't stop if you put him down, he would keep crawling back up, lol. My dh thought it was cute, but it drove me crazy and I was so scared he would sneak in our dd's crib and do that, so we didn't let him sleep w/ us at night, and I guess it pissed him off, so when we'd wake up in the morning, we would find poop at our bedroom door or on the couch, yes...yuck... The last straw was when I was getting ready to go into town, and I left my bedroom door open, and he went in and pooped on our bed...on my side! I called my dh at work and told him Chloe wouldn't be there when I got home. Oh and this was after we tried to find another home for him and was given back twice... But our orange kitty stayed...lol. Then about 2 yrs later, we ended up w/ another cat, so sweet and all black and long-haired. But his litter box habits were atrocious. He would poop like 4-6 times a day, and the smell was absolutely horrid. Not only that, when he covered it up, he would literally fling it on the walls. Friggin yuck. We tried the covered litter box, and he would perch on the edge and poop, usually missing the box part-way and then proceed to fling it w/ his paws. Dh was deployed and I worked, and I would come home and have to drag everything out of the "cat" closet, hose it down, change the litter, and 409 the inside walls and mop the floor. It was disgusting. We took him to different vets and they couldn't find anything w rong...they just said he was messy. Leaving him outside wasn't an option, he was declawed and didn't like to be outside. So he had to go. I was stressed enough w/ my dh gone and I didn't need that to come home to. Ok, I guess all that was totally irrelevant to your point. But anyhoo, I guess if our orange kitty (yes, that's his name) thinks he's outlasted 2 other cats, he can get rid of a dog, lol. My parents tell me we don't need to own animals cause they're all weird, lol. But Fiona seems about as normal as yorkis can get, I guess, so maybe we're onto something...lol I've actually caught him peeing on the floor where Fiona is kept some parts of the day...but Fiona couldn've have done it, b/c she was locked in her kennel. But now we're fixing to move and I'm stressing, b/c I don't want our cat to spray the closets where we move next, and he has bitten our dd more than once, she's fine w/ the dog, but doesn't leave the cat alone. I just think he would be happier w/ a family that doesn't have kids (or teenage kids) and doesn't have other animals. I'm stressing about it, b/c he can be so sweet and goofy...ok sry for going on and on... |

| Cats do things for a reason normally; obviously she is upset about something. Has she been to the vet? Does she have matts, and have you replaced her litter box with a new one recently? I once changed the litter we were using and used something else. All heck broke loose, I changed the box and used what she was used to and everything was back to normal. Same thing happened when she had matts, took her to the groomer and everything was ok again. I am very sympathetic as there is nothing worse. How long has this been going on? Any changes to environment?

| We have had her a year and a half. We moved last September, but she was marking everything before that. It has progressively gotten worse. She is short-haired, so I dont think it would be mats. I can't touch her to find out. Nothing has been changed. We got Parker last October, now she is a holy terror! I hate to say, but if I had to choose Parker would definately be the one to stay! It is like she tries to keep him in trouble, and you can pretty much trace all of Parker's behavior problems to her! DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!

| Very unfortunate, and not an easy decision, but I would think you owe her at least a visit to the vet to see if there is something wrong. I would hate to see anyone else that might adopt her go through the same problems. Some cats unfortunately will not change, and with a new baby coming, I don’t think you need the frustration. If she urinates on your baby’s things your anger will only get worse, not good for you, and not good for her. It’s just sad. I am a huge kitty lover, but I completely understand what you are going through……

| Cats Both of my cats have started poo'ing in the floor instead of in the litter box. It's not because it's not clean. I have an automated litter box and it's kept very clean. They pee in it, but won't poo. I think they are doing it from jealousy of the dog, but who knows. I don't know what to do. How do you train a cat? Kimberly from Eastern NC |

| I have a 2 1/2 yr old daughter and am 8 mths prego with our second daughter, we had two wonderful cats, we got them when we moved in togther at 18 we had our first baby at 21 and we loved our cats, but our daughter was allergic and we had to get rid of them it was hard but you do what is best child come before animals, since then my daughter has out grown the allergy and we have had around 3 diffrent cats since then, all with there own problems, one would'nt potty in its box and I am a clean freak so she had to go, another hated being indoors and everytime a door opened she went running, I am against having outdoor animals so we found her a new home, them we had carmen I loved him so we had him 8 mths but as he got older he got meaner, he bite scratched, hissed, he would hide and when you would walk by he would jump at your lega nd sink his claws and teeth in your leg and my daughters so he had to go as well. I am a cat lover but I have decided no more we have no luck! I'll stick to my dogs! LOL Good luck |
