| Yes, they do, but are a little bigger, with a different shape to the head and nose. They are a cross between a Yorkie and an Australian Terrier. There was a good thread about the differences just a few days ago.I read it with interest as I have a Yorkie/Silky cross. Do a search and have a look.

| I had a little PB female silkie named Minx, she was with us for 12 1/2 yrs. They do look quite similar especially in colouring, their bones are a little sturdier than yorkies. Minx's coat would grow right to the floor and was just beautiful. I'll try to scan some pics into my computer and post them for you. She weighed about 9 lbs. (She was Tango's Mom but he's a X).

| They are very similar to yorkies I have a silky terrier- they are very similar to a yorkie, but usually larger, longer in body than a yorkie. Bailey is about 14lbs- he is longer than he is tall. Not all silkies are that big- my vet told me she has seen silkies smaller than my yorkies and yorkies bigger than my Bailey. But in general I think they tend to be larger than 6-7lbs. I attached a picture of him alone sittin' pretty and another picture of him with Macie so you can get an idea of his size and shape compared to her (in this picture Macie was about 4.5lbs) He has the same hair color and texture as a yorkie, but his hair doesn't seem to grow as fast. Also his hair is really wavy on his back-half. I'm not sure if this a silky terrier thing or what. I have a friend who also has a silky and his hair is wavy on his butt too! We think it's funny Here is a link to the AKC standards for Silky Terriers: http://www.akc.org/breeds/silky_terrier/index.cfm |

| Tilly is a silkie and when I bought her I chose not to have her tail taken off. although when she is grown out her tail is quite fluffy I found this other information on a silkie(silkie w/green eyes) although I don't think the green eyes really mean that much because sami my son had green eyes when this photo was shot, and in certain pictures tillys eyes are green but they both (tilly& sami) have had red eyes also! I do think alot of members will agree with the eye color issue, this information below was taken off yorkie rescue.. other than my two, tilly in front of the bed and sami w/green eyes(blue&tan) Silkies coats tend to take on a lot of blonde and silver.. http://www.yorkshireterrierrescue.net/yorkielooks.html Green Eyes Green eyes shining back at you are a sure sign that you have a silky-coated Yorkie. You can see the green eyes in two ways. Sometimes, if the dog is standing in a semi-dark area and light shines on his eyes, the eyes will reflect back green. They will also show up green in photographs taken at certain angles. Wooly-or-cottony coated Yorkies have more of a reddish/brown eye under these circumstances. |
