Congratulations on the 4 pups! Way to go Sophie. Im glad mom and pups are doing fine. Can't wait to see pics of the pups.

Another update. Our little male puppy wasn't breathing right or nursing this morning. I took him to the vet. His heart was good and he didn't have any deformaties. The vet said to leave him and they put him in an oxygen tent and will hand feed him. Please say prayers, my husband named him Fergus....(good name). The girls are Lilly, Ellie and Molly.....

Question,,,,,when do I give Sophie a bath?????

I just returned from the vets office. Bad news The puppy had Failing puppy syndrome. He did not respond to anything the vet tried. X-Rays showed that he had more air in his little tummy and almost no air in his lungs. The vet gave him a 10% chance and that was only a maybe. We made the hardest decision to put the puppy down. I sit here with a hugh lump in my throat, hoping I did the right thing. Martie

So sorry to hear about the little boy. I, personally, think a chance is better than none at all, but you know more about the situation. The puppy may have been younger than the rest and didn't have time for his lungs to fully develop. You can help prevent this in future litters by only breeding the dogs for the two optimal days instead of mating occuring for a longer time period.

We went to the vet today for a complete checkup of Sophie and the pups. All are doing great. All the pups are gaining weight and are healthy. They had their tails docked. I read the pros and cons of this and I made the decision to dock their tails. I am so glad I found this site. I can learn from both sides before I have to make a decision. I will try and post pictures here but I have posted pictures in the photo gallery.

Well the day has come, our sweet Daisy just went to her new home. Her adoptive mom and dad have a little male yorkie (Prince) and will be wonderful parents and she will have a great home. She will also have a human sister and brother.... I can't explain, I am so happy she has a good home and at the same time I feel a hole in my heart, (where she will forever be) I guess it's a happy/sad day for me...anyone else have these feelings when their pups get adopted????? I'll change the signature after I post this.
