My Yorkie has big ears My Tyson has big ears-they are floppy still-I do not think they will stand up. His brother also had big ears. Is this normal?

I think it depends on how old he is and if you have the tips of the ears shaved. if you want them to stand up you could try taping them. but I like big ears that are floppy. too cute.

I have not had the shaved his ears. They are floppy & they are lifting a little but I do not think they will stand up-thats why his name is Tyson & when I went to see him-he was biting his brothers ears

When I got Gracie, her ears had not come up at all. At 12wks I took her to the groomer to have her ears shaved and the groomer said her ears were so big I should leave them alone and hope they stay floppy. I had them shaved anyway and taped them up for a few days. She is now 2 yrs old and her ears aren't floppy but she kind of holds them out to the side and they are big. Sometimes I think it might have been better to listen to the groomer and left them floppy. If you want Tyson's ears up you could try having them shaved. My vet took a little ear shaped piece of thin cardboard and tapped her ears up and like I said, they did stay up on their own after just a few days. As long as he's not a show dog it is perfectly acceptable either way and I think the floppy ears are cute. Love the name!

| Big ears Satch has big ears but as he got a bit older the stood up just fine.About three weeks ago his right ear flopped and I am not sure why.I am going to talk to the vet but may not do anything about it.When Satch cocks his head and gives me that look I have to grin ,he looks so cute. Satch is my treasure and no matter how he looks I love all ( Did I tell you he is also very BIG, LOL )13 1/2 lbs of him.I'll bet your baby is just adorable!!!

I guess I am going against the grain here but I really, really dislike floppy ears. I think they look cute on other dogs just not mine. I know I may someday have a floppy-eared yorkie but I will shave and tape and work my fingers to the bone trying to get them to stand. LOL really it is just a personal choice. if you like them floppy, leave them alone. My first yorkies ears were erect when I bought him but seemed very large for his body. Now his body has grown into them. he is perfect. (to me). My other two yorkies have tiny erect ears . When I first brought Dixie home her ears were up but one dropped a little at times. I didn't do anything and in just a few days it went on up. THENNNNNN, I got up one morning a few days later and they were both down. I was so upset, I called my husband long distance. he was out of town. Soon as he got home, we shaved and taped them for two days and they went right back up. She is four months old now and I know that they might go down again when she teethes but you can be sure, I will get the tape out again. She looked like a little nurse or princess with her ears all taped up.
