i was looking at some parks in indy and it says that you have to have proof of all of your dogs shots pluse bordetella and it cost $4.00 per dog. i'm sure everyone is up to date on shot's but not everyone will have bordetella shots. just something to think about when picking some place

Yeah, it seems indy parks have very strick rules. Maybe dog parks arent such a good idea after all.

Indiana Meet Up
 

Looks like a lot are interested in the meet up. Someone mentioned April 30. Anytime is fine, I do like the plan for a Saturday better than a Sunday, although I would attend any day. What time do you think we should start? How about 10:30-11:00, that way people don't have to jump out of bed, gather their things and hop in the car. We would have time to greet everyone, and start laying out the meal, then we would have all afternoon.

Also, Indianapolis is more centrally located and if I remember right, Eagle Creek Park is easy to get to. I don't like heavy traffic either in the larger cities, but if I can get there, anyone can. LOL Lebanon is just about 15-20 northwest of Indy so if someone gets a little skittish in big cities, that would still be fairly central. They have a beautiful big park, play equipment, walking trail and a huge area for picnicing. The park is right on Hwy 39 and Lebanon is just off Interstate 65. I'm just making suggestions here, hoping that if it is more central, more will come. Once we all get together, maybe if we decide to do this annually, we can schedule one year in the north/central and the next in south/central. I know I'm going on and on, but I am so excited about this meet up.

Also, I just saw another Yorkie 3 on here!!!! From Wisonsin, I think.

I cant do April 30th. My daughters Munciana Volleyball team has a tournament that day. ( totally space it) What about Saturday, May 6th at Eagle Creek Park. I will go down this weekend and check it out and try to get a shelter place. Is this ok with everyone???? I think we need to set the date and place so that we can begin to plan everything else. Is this date and place ok with everyone. Also if you know anyone else with a yorkie let them know. Thanks

does any one know anything about meetup.com I seen on there where a lot of yorkie owners in indy were wanting a meet up. I wonder how you invite them>>>> If anyones know feel free to follow up on that. thanks

If we're sure May 6 is going to be the day, then let me know and I will try to contact all PetSmart and PetCo's in Indiana and see if they will post a flyer in their stores. Everyone should put a notice in their Vet's office and any other in their town or city and most popular store(s) in their city. What do you think?

just wondering why we need to contact pet stores?

Because so many frequent them and what better way to spread the news?
I'm not talking about "Pet Store" just pet supplies stores like PetSmart.

is this for the public or just YT members?

I thought it was just for Yorkie owners. I visit my PetSMart and Petco for food, supplies, clothes and just for browsing. I'm sure other Yorkie owners buy things for their Yorkies in these stores. They are not stores that sell pets.

Ohhh I guess I mis understood, I thought this was a YT meet-up, I did not know it was for any Yorkie owner. I'm not sure how the gift exchange will work then.

I don't think I misunderstood, I was just reading some of the other posts and one was concerned on how to contact the ones listed in meetup.com. It doesn't matter to me one way or the other. I understand what your saying about a gift exchange. Maybe they'll have everyone bring a gift and then either an auction like one post suggested or put numbers on on the gifts and pass out numbers to the people. Then just match numbers to the gift. Really not sure how it will be done.

I don't know if they are or not, now I'm totally confused. HELP!!! Somebody set me straight. Maybe I just need to do what I'm told: this is the day, this is the time, what to bring.................. Boy I hate being 51, everything was fine when I was 49 LOL
