Anyone in Indiana want to have a MeetUp I'm pretty new to the site and seen where people in different states have Meet Ups. They look really fun and I've seen several pictures. I was wondering if anyone in Indiana would like to try and plan something like that. If you let me know. You can also email me at Denise517@comcast.net. Thanks. If there is already a Meet Up for Indiana let me know. Have a Great Day! |
Hey Denise, Go to Meetup.com, and enter your zip to see if there is already one scheduled in your area. |
Where are you in Indiana? If you'e NW, I'm in Chicago :) |
I looked on the meetup site, i didnt see any yorkie meet ups. I live in Muncie. We could meetup anywhere, I open to options. We go to Chicago every year and I love it. We always go to the Magnificant Mile and go shopping. |
I'm in Warsaw and would love a meet-up!! |
I started a thread not to long ago Denise and here is the link, maybe we can contact these people. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...hlight=Indiana |
Count me in too |
I think we should wait till the weather is a little nicer, does anyone have any ideas on where to meet up? has to be dog friendly. |
I would love a meet up. Frankfort has a really nice park and so does Lebanon and Lafayette. Plenty of large type picnic areas for gathering together. Don't travel too much so don't know about other parks in the area. |

Well I didn't find any Yorkie meetups in my area, but I'll be getting right on the satanism and vampires meetups! *sarcasm* |
yes, I would like to maybe do it End of April or 1st couple weeks in May. I'll try to do research and see where some different places are. I know we have Mounds State Park in Anderson, it has alot of stuff to do. I'll try to find somewhere within equal distance for all of us. Let me know. |
They have a doggie park in Indy. I'll check into that. It kind of looks like you have to be yearly member. Not Sure. |
I'm in Bremen, IN about a half hour south of South bend. My aunt lives in Yorktown, which is near Muncie. I'm also always looking for a reason to return to Lafayette and relive my Purdue college days. |
count me in to, i live near lafayett . yorkie3 and i were just talking about this sunday and i was gona post on this but glad denise beat me to it. there was talk last fall of having one but it never happened so hopefully this time it will. lynne |
Where would you guys like to do this??? When End of April or 1st of May. I thought we could have a cook out and everyone bring food. Also thought it would be fun to have a gift exchange for our yorkies. Any other ideas?????? I've never done this before, so I dont know what else they do at the meetups???? I think it will be fun....Let me know your ideas on Meeting places. It doesnt matter to me. Do you guys have kids too??? I have two one 12 and one 20 months old. Its funny I heard someone on this site refer to them as skinkids... tooo funny |
anytime is good for me. is indianapolis kind of central area? |
Anyplace would be fine if it's centrally located. Maybe it would be better the first or middle of June. I know it rains anytime, but if we could get out of the spring rains we stand a better chance of not getting rained out. I think a gift exchange is a great idea, maybe with a limit on spending so fair to everyone. A covered dish cookout would be fun too. Maybe a fashion show? I'm not too sure about dog parks, heard too many bad things. Maybe a big family park like I mentioned in a previous post. I think it would be great for the whole family. Let's not let the idea fade away this time. |
Most likely anywhere we pick we will have to pay a small fee to get in, all state parks charge a fee, I dont mind paying a small fee, it's usually like $2-$5 per car, and this money goes into the park. I like the idea of the picnic, we all could bring a dish. I have 3 daughters and I know they would love to attend as well, not sure if hubby will or not. So are we thinking Indy? I found some parks in Indy if you want to check them out. http://www.indygov.org/eGov/City/DPR...Creek+Park.htm http://cityguide.aol.com/indianapoli...sbid=104438833 I think Eagle Creek Park looks about the best. What does everyone else think? |
I think Eagle Creek looks nice too. I'll call and get a price on some shelters. I could drive there this weekend and check it out. Its probably on a 1hr away. What does everyone else think. I like the idea about the fashion show. How cute. What is a good Date for Everyone Any is fine with me. Do we want a shelter house??? I'll call and get rates. Thanks... |
I was thinking about having a white elephant auction, it's where everyone brings a wrapped gift and we auction it off and the money we could donate to a rescue charity or something.... |
This part of meetup.com may help you all out! http://yorkie.meetup.com/about/ |
Eagle Creek sounds okay here, maybe an hour away. It will be soooo much fun getting together..... it'll be hard to wait!!!! |
Hello Everyone! I appreciate Denise517 and Abbey46923 letting me know about this thread and meetup. I live in Indianapolis and am happy to assist in any way, if needed. There are 5 off-leash dog parks in Indy that I am aware of (Broad Ripple, Gilmer Park - Eagle Creek, Humane Society - NW side, Fishers and Greenwood. There is a website: www.indybarkpark.org that may be of assistance. I think a couple of the dog parks have some agility equipment for the dogs to play on. I know that membership is required for most of the dog parks, however, they also offer a 1 day pass. Another trend I have seen in Indy is meetups at doggie daycare facilities. Again, there are numerous doggie daycares located in all areas of Indy. One daycare that I have used has held Bichon meetups and Doodle Romps (for Labradoodles), but I know there are other facilities that have meetups with other groups. I have just not seen a yorkie meetup, so this would be a lot of fun. :aimeeyork |
ok this thread is getting buried, thats what happened last fall when some tried to arrange a meet up and then it just never happened. i'll go first how does april 30th sound to everyone, thought a saturday would be good since some will have to travel then they would have sunday to rest up. next we need a place. |
Meeting Place :animal36 I live in Richmond and would love to attend, but I would really prefer a smaller town for the meetup, just because everytime I go to Indy, because its so big, I get lost. I do hope I'm not the only person from In. that gets lost easily lol. I am only about 1 hour from Muncie. How far is that from everyone else? Would anybody else be interested in meeting there? |
hi how far is richman from lebonon or frankfurt. you could go around indy if that isnt a problem. dont worry i get lost going around the block lol lynne |
April 30th sounds good. If we are just wanting a cook out, fashion show, auction, gift exchange, and my daughter thought it would be funny to have super pet tricks. If you dont want to do indy. Mounds State Park in Anderson has a great park. It has shelter, woods with hiking trails, horse back riding, etc. It a nice quiet place. There is no place for the doggies to run free as in a fenced in area. Also has playground. Its only about 12 miles from Muncie. Not really a central location or if anyone knows a place in Layfette. We need to decide on place. Please give input soon! |
I dont mind going to indy either. They do have alot of nice parks. Please let me know soon, cause I can go down to indy this weekend and check out parks. lets all pick a city where we want it and go from there. |
Sorry to keep posting...also how many for sure people want to do this. I know we dont have a whole lot like some, but maybe it will grow each year. I know NC meetup posted things in pet stores and at petsmart to try and get more people. I think it will be fun no matter what |
I dont know where those places are (Frankfort or Lebanan),but Indy is a little over 2 hours away from me. We are southeast of Indy. I KNOW WHERE MOUNDS PARK IS!!!! lol. |
