Donating YT 14K Club Member | YT Members...please be careful! I'm very upset as I type this. Please be careful with some of the threads. I just read one where someone was asking for donations...dog related. All I'm going to say is don't get taken. If you see someone asking for donations, please do a search on their past posts. Find out if this is a regular member or if basically, they only come around when they need something. I don't want to see anyone get hurt or burned.

| I think this is against YT rules... Thanks for the heads up for those of us that do have a good heart and want the best for our yorkie community, but not if they are genuine..

| I totally agree, you just have to be careful. I have donated several times to people on here that I know and want to support. But TXShopper is absolutely correct for being concerned and reminding us of the dangers out there. I dont know what thread she is talking about but what I do know is there are some poeple out there that just try to take advantage of kind hearted people so you since this is the WORLD WIDE WEB and you really have no idea who a person really is, you have to be careful. I AM NOT saying whoever needed a donation or whoever it taking up donations is bad, by any means, I am sure they are a great person. Im just saying I agree with being cautious. Unfortunately some bad people out there ruin it for the rest of us, and this is just so unfortunate but its life. I am 100% for supporting people who are helping good causes or just need some extra help. I am just saying please be careful and do some research PLease no one take what I am posting the wrong way.

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Don't get me wrong! I've donated to a couple of gift baskets/packages. I felt good about that but watch out for those that ask and then never acknowledges the goods or gets back to those that donated. To me, that is very ugly and I'd be very hurt if that happened to me.

| Thanks for the heads up! I didn't see the post you're referring to, but I haven't had time to read each and every post!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I've seen pleas in the past also...sometimes people DO send things or $ and then poof - we never hear from that person again....I've been burned before and it's not a good feeling... (not here..different site) this was a good post. I know we all see posts where we really want to help if we are able ...but Kimberley is right - the best way to see if someone is really needing help is search their past posts....you learn alot that way.... and IF someone is new & sees something they want to help out with....ask admin or a longtime member about it ...usually they know if something is legit or not...

| You are correct, it is against the rules! Admin does step in, but they don't always catch it quickly unless someone points it out to them. (only because they have THOUSANDS of posts to monitor) If you see someone suspicious asking for donations, hit the Exclamation Point on the bottom left of that person's post and report it to Admin immediately.

| Thanks for the heads up!! I feel good about all gifts, donations, etc., except one! In one of the gift exchanges, I didn't get any sort of acknowledgment ... not that she had to thank me, but I put a lot of thought, care & money into it [the money didn't matter] and I just wanted to know if her Yorkie baby liked the gifts! I'm thankful that I sent it requiring a signature or wouldn't even have known that it was received ..... it was received! Maybe she quit the forum before the exchange was over, but out of common courtesy she could've at least thanks! I love helping others but will be on my guard!! Thanks again!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I'm glad you said that Bettyeanne......TWO WORDS Are huge in our language. The words THANK YOU. A THANK YOU is so easy to do...and means so much..... and that's a shame your gifts were never responded to....I'd be upset also. Lucky for us - most people aren't like that...but there is always those out there who just don't have manners. I'lll say thank you for her I BET you sent just awesome gifts and that person was very lucky to be your gift exchange buddy...and if that person is reading this....You can see it hurt someones feelings by not responding. |
