| We went camping twice last year and had a BLAST! Keelel loved it. The first time he was a little nrevous with the "outside sounds" and a few times he alerted us that there was an little animal near by. He loves being outside as it is, I swear he was in heaven. |

| Chattiesmom, that is the cutest thing I ever seen. I have a question as well, when you guys say a playpen, do you mean a dog one or a child's one, (may be a stupid question, but had to ask). We go camping all the time, we use to tent but decided to buy a trailor a couple of years ago and honestly I am so spoiled with it, we even decided to upgrade yesterday and bought a new one that is alot bigger so we have lots of room for big family consisting of 4 humans and 3 furbabies. This is Nelly's first year camping, the other two are bigger dogs and are used to being on long leashes out there and do not try to get off but I am a little worried about Nelly because she can slip herself out of anything even her harness so if anyone can tell me something about the pens it would be great, my husaband, who has this real protective thing over Nelly wanted to get something for her but we did not know what to get because she is real leaper. Any suggestion would be great. |

| I agree with a lot of the posts. If you take your little Yorkie camping - just be sure that there will always be one of you available to be with the little guy. I know mine would have a ball- but I couldn't let him loose. So - his long long leash would go along with us. No - of course - you can't take him camping if you're going to have to leave him alone at the camp while you go off and do other things...... get one of those Yorkie carriers - and tote him along with you. Good luck - Carol Jean |

| My pups prefer sleeping in their crate, so we bring it with us when we camp. That way we don't have to worry about escapees! Ticks are certainly a big problem here in NC, so prevention is necessary. We take 10 foot leashes too, and tie-out posts that pound into the ground. Have big fun!!

| We camp in the mountains for 6 weeks each summer - well, our camping is now done in the 5th wheel trailer - but Rowdy loves it!!! Everyone's suggestions are right on the mark - we cut Rowdy's hair really short because he is always in the grass, weeds, dirt, water, etc etc. We take a metal x-pen and put it on top of a green outdoor carpet so that he can be out with us but be safe. We also take a long leash and a stake so that he can be out of the pen but on the long leash and run around. Most campgrounds won't let you have pets off leash. You will need extra flea and tick precautions because they are prevalent in the wild. Rowdy absolutely loves camping!!! This year we will take Rex too - I hope he loves it too!!! Here are some pictures - our trailer in the campground, a beautiful rainbow just outside our window, Rowdy fishing with his dad, and Rowdy in his pen.
