| My Boys.......... Quote:
IT was "horrible" for the first three or four weeks after we brought baby Dinkey home at 12 weeks old. Dudley hated him, he would not eat, play, snuggle, come to us, or do any of his "normal" things. He stayed in his bed for the most part and anytime little Dinkey came close to him, he would attack him. Like he was going to eat him alive......growled, nipped, snapped!!!! I had to hand feed Dudley chicken and rice behind closed doors away from Dinkey before he would eat.....I WAS WORRIED SICK....and I just kept thinking "what have I done to poor Dudley?" He was sooo upset with us bringing home a new brother for him........now mind you, Dinkey is a darling little fuzz ball that only wanted to love you and play, play, play and run and jump and play some more..........with Dudley. Dudley finally accepted the fact the Dinkey was staying and I would say he tolerates him now. On a happy note, they do play some........but it's mostly Dinkey playing. He's such a happy little fella! What I wish........ is that I had gotten Dudley a brother when he was about a year old or younger. I think they would have bonded much better IMO! I really want to get a little girl (both boys were neutered at 6 months) while Dinkey is still young. I think they would have a great time playing and bonding. PLUS..........I also have "puppy fever!!!!!" I think even adopting an older female, like 2 or 3 yrs old would be GREAT! Our home is full of Yorkie LOVE!

| Go for it. I have two and love it. My breeder was happy when I got them both also. She said she thinks yorkies do better in pairs. I love having both a male and a female too. You get the best of both that way

| I also have a Winston (Winnie for short)!! He's a bichon/poodle mix about 20 lbs and is 3 years old. I stumbled upon this board while researching shorkies=shih tzi + yorkie mix, and got hooked!! So truth be told I don't even have a yorkie mg: I feel like I'm coming out of the closet finally The advice on this board I find crosses over to all dogs and the people are just so nice and kind. I too have decided to finally add to our brood of 3 kids (15,11 and 10) and 1 dog. I decided on getting a full blooded shih tzu instead of the shorkie. Little Georgia Belle will be coming next weekend. She is a black shih tzu that weighs 1.2 lbs at the moment!! I'm very happy and excited and my mommy instincts are in overdrive. I too know what you're going through because my mind is whirling about introducing her to Winnie and how they will get along, etc. I saw on The Dog Whisperer that when you first bring your furbaby home you should hold it's behind up to the other dogs to let them get a good sniff. I thought that was great advice. It's a dogs way of getting to know another dog! Keep posting people because I'm eating up all of your advice like ice-cream!! Thanks for reading such a long post Betsey K. aka Winnie's Mom.....New Hampshire |

| Hi Winstons mum Just wanted to tell you about our experience .It took me 13 years of persuading to get Alfie, and then my husband was hooked. We waited until Alfie was almost 18 months and then got Lottie. Alfie and Lottie have got on great from the beginning he just loves her, although she is now the BOSS! She went in to get spayed recently and Alfie was lost all day without her, he is very protective of her and although its twice the expense you will love every minute of it. My mum also has a 13 year old yorkie who would not even look at Alfie when he first came on the scene but now she absolutely adores both of them she is like an old mother hen,she barks and she fusses over them and they just love her to bits. So good luck with your search! Julie

| I think we will be taking Winston on the puppy hunt. It's only fair to see how he would react to the puppy, right? Do you think it's a good idea or no?
