| We have a parakeet and Diesel HATES that bird! See "birdie" isn't locked in his cage. we leave the door open and he crawls in and out of his cage. When he wants to stretch his wings then he will fly around the room and then back to the cage. ( I said EWWW! too. Apparently he can't fly and pop at the same time! LOL) Birdie seems to love Diesel but the feeling is not mutual. Diesel will try to catch him while he is flying. I would be very careful! Parrots can do major damage if given the chance! We used to have a Quaker. He was 4 when we got him and he never came out of his shell. He actually started getting mean. My dd saw this little parakeet that she had to have. Well when we brought Birdie home "polly" got out of his cage made his way over to "birdies" cage and managed to get a hold of his toe and just about bit it off. It took for ever to get the bleeding to stop. My point is if you get one just keep a close eye on them and things should be fine. I just thought I would chime in and let you know that Diesel does not like birds! |

| thank all you guys for the replies. I would have posted again sooner but it has been really hectic here. We rehomed our jack russel yesterday (I'm still crying like a baby but it had to be done) he discovered the baby macaw last week he didnt' get to her to hurt her but I think it's just because he didnt' get the chance. I was lucky to find him a very good home actually with one of his brothers and a sister. we have decided to try to find a yorkie we even visited one at the pet shop my son fell in love.my grey does really well with dogs she loves them and the macaw is still too young she just opened her eyes about 10 days ago so it will be a good time to introduce her to a new dog byt iem we find one. I don't like buying from pet shops the ones they had were 4 months old and NO socialazation with anyhting except it's litter mates and the pet store staff. all your comments helped a lot I really do apprecaite them and everyone her is soo nice and very helpful. a friendly bunch of people here. I'll keep checking in and maybe soon I'll have yorkie pics and stories of my own to share. |

| We have a macaw an african grey and a parrot - Gracie barks at them once in a while but she does not bother them at all - they just ignore her.

| I have a Blue & Gold Macaw, Red Front Macaw, African Grey and a Green Cheek Conure. The Conure is the only one my Westie seems interested in and I never leave the fids out and unattended. My Cairn is not interested in any of them. The others have a much larger beak and that is intimidating to the pups. Now Gator which is a Yorkie and 10wks, will grab the B&G's tail when he can reach it, but he will lick the conure and allow the Conure to softly beak his nose. It just depends on the pups but Birds and Dogs should never be left unattended.
