It's so funny for you to say because it's just how I feel but it is hard to really express that to other people who are not dog lovers...because I think they think I am abit nutty!! I work in a playschool though so I get to tell my children all about her antics and well sure they are a great audience and think everything is awesome!!!

Believe me - 5 or 6 pounds is not a "big Yorkie." In fact, that is exactly what they should weigh - give or take a pound. My little 7-month old boy weighs 8 lbs 2 oz. He is the perfect weight for me. I can easily lift and bath him. He can get off and on all the furniture in the house without hurting himself or my having to worry. He is an awesome eater and has been perfectly healthy every minute since I brought him home. I can take him outside and not have to worry about him. He can definitely hold his own with any dog regardless of their size (but then - he could do that when he was 8 weeks old). I have adjoining back yards with my neighbors and he runs and visits them and their dogs every day. We have hawks here - and his weighing only a few extra pounds makes my yard a lot safer for him. I personally think that even an 8-pound dog is a very small little dog. For the poster who ask - these are some of the reasons we like a few extra pounds on our Yorkies. And, yes, I think a 5 or 6 pound Yorkie is perfect too. Carol Jean

Honestly I am beginning to wonder if the larger yorkies grow and fill in a bit longer than the tiny ones. My Rio weighed 3 lbs at 3 mths. 6 lbs at 6 mths and finished up at 9 +at 3 yrs old!!

| My lil 12 week old Dexter is already 4.6 lbs! His mom is 5 lbs and dad is 3 lbs. How could he be this big already?! The breeder said he should stop growing at 16 weeks. But I find that very hard to believe.

7lbs is really not that big. My Duchess is a little over 7 lbs and people are always saying how small she is. I had a yorkie that was only around 4 lbs and I constantly worried about her breaking a bone when she jumped off furniture. My house had steps for all of the couches and the bed. Because she was smaller, she was a little more fragile. Now I have a tomboy who loves to play roughhouse and thinks she is 70 lbs. I love it. I guess with anything, small or larger, they have their pluses and minuses.

Hi I was looking back at my records and my little girl weighed 2 lbs at 12 1/2 weeks. She is now almost 1 year, on the 3rd of Aug. and she weighs 4 1/2 lbs. So she is a little over double what she was at 12 weeks. The charts showed her adult weight to be 3 1/2 lbs, I am so glad that she is bigger than they said. She scared me when she was smaller, she hurt herself just going down her little stairs to get on and off the couch. She will come up the stairs now but still won't go down, I'm sure she is afraid of getting hurt on them again. But the bad thing is that she jumps like a deer, off and on the couch and will not use the stairs at all. She only uses the stairs to get onto the bed but will wait until I come to get her down. I would think that if your baby is anything like mine he might double in size. Almost forgot my baby stopped growing at about 8 months. I think she might gain a little weight still but I think her height and length will stay the same. I also have a 10 lbs maltese boy and I think he is a little safer than my baby girl is, I'm always afraid she will get stepped on. So I think you might be happy with a little bit bigger baby.
