| ![]() I just picked up my little yorkie yesterday. The breeder told me shes going to be 4 pounds. I just weighed her and shes a little over 3 pounds. Shes almost 9 weeks old. I find it a little hard to believe that shes going to be that small. Can anyone give me an estimate on about how big shes gonna get? The parents are about 4-5 pounds. Thank you. |

| ![]() If she is 3 pounds at 9 weeks, she will be in the 8 to 10 pound range. Double her 12 week weight when she gets that age. If this is not what you paid for, I would talk to the breeder. |

| ![]() She'll definitely be bigger than four pounds. I'd guess somewhere around 7-9 pounds.

| ![]() Probably about 9lbs Stewie was 3.5 pounds at 16 weeks and he is now 9lbs, so there really isn't a fool-proof formula, but I think it's safe to assume that you've been mislead.

| ![]() From looking at different breeders prices she was a little less then most. Not much. I do know she was the only one in the litter. May this is why shes so big. Is it possible that she could be older then what they are telling me? I'm a little confused now. They seemed like such nice people don't understand why they would lie about her weight. |

| ![]() Perhaps, they are not aware of the actual weight of their adults. I have had many people bring me a Yorkie to be groomed and tell me on the phone it weighs 3 or 4 pounds..I get out the scale and it weighs 6. Maybe the breeders are uninformed as to how to judge adult weight. What reason would there be for them to make her younger? You could talk to the vet and see what information they have..age shots were given and check-ups. A single pup in a litter can get big fast..but they level off by 6 to 8 weeks and become what they are genetical programmed to be size-wise..being a singleton does not meant the pup will be large or small as an adult. |

| ![]() My guess is that your breeder is off but it's hard to say by how much? They don't all grow at the same pace. I have a friend who's dog was just over 3lbs. at 13 weeks. She too was the only one in the litter. The dog is less than 5.5 lbs. at 13 months now. |

| ![]() when i got snickers she was 3lbs at 12wks - she is now 4lbs at 16wks i dont know how helpful that is but i can tell you mine is bigger than the average per the wieght charts for toy dogs.... they say to dble the 12wk weight so if going by that urs will be a lil bigger than 7lbs likely... |

| ![]() I find the weight charts fairly inaccurate. Since your puppy was the only one in the litter it will be on the bigger side at first, but shouldn't affect the final size. My Princess chi was 1 lb 3 oz at 12 weeks old when I got her, which should have put her at about 3 lbs full grown & now she is a bit over 5 lbs at almost 2 yrs old. Your little one will be over 4 lbs since at 9 weeks they still have a ton of growing left to do. Some breeders will just lie to you if they think you want a small dog - not all of them, but unfortunately it does happen, sometimes breeders cannot guarantee size, but in this case it seems a little unreasonable to say the dog will be 4 lbs when it is already 3 lbs at 9 weeks. I don't feel my breeder for Princess chi lied to me about her size as she was sooooo tiny when I got her, I just wanted to make sure I had a dog within the chi breed standard under 6 lbs as my sisters chi is 6.5lbs & I wanted one a bit smaller. I would talk to the breeder about this if it bothers you.

| ![]() Sheila was a bit over 1 pound when I got her at 8 weeks. Now at almost a year and a half she is about 3 pounds. Your yorkie will most likely be well over 4 pounds. If you are going to give her back to the breeder I'd do it soon before you bond with her, if that hasn't happened already. I wasn't looking for a tiny when I got my yokie. I did get pick of the litter though and fell in love with her right away. |

| ![]() bunjee was 3 lbs at 9 weeks. he's now about 6.5 lbs at 6 months and still growing. i think everyone can guess with certainty that your puppy will over 4 lbs full grown. the general guideline for guestimates is to double the 12 week weight, but of course that's not fool proof either. with that guideline, bunjee should be about 7.5-8 lbs full grown, but who knows, he's a little bundle of joy either way. |

| ![]() Did you actually see the parents? Did they look much bigger than the puppy? Just curious since the puppy is already 3 lbs and the parents are 4-5 lbs they shouldn't look much bigger than the puppy. My female yorkie weighs 6 lbs now at 19 months old and I was told both parents were 4.5 lbs. I didn't know anything about yorkies at the time and had no idea what a 4 or 5 lb dog looked like but looking back I would say they were around the same size she is now, which is plenty small as far as I am concerned. I think people tend to round down when it comes to yorkie weight. Unless you really feel the need for a tiny 4 lb yorkie I wouldn't worry about it too much. All the yorkie owners with 8 or 10 lb yorkies seem to be just as happy as the owners of the 4 pounders. Congrats on your new baby. We would all love to see pics. I'm sure she is adorable!

| ![]() It really is so hard to say. Tigger weighed 1 lb 9 oz at ten weeks and he's now eight months old and weighs 4lbs 8 oz. But my bet would be between 7-10 lbs.
