Please don't leave them outside all alone. Even for 5 minutes. They can take off all of a sudden. Hawks and large owls can also snatch up a little dog. I read one horrible story about a woman who watched a hawk take her dog up to her roof and eat it while all she could do was stand there.

Microchipping is great but it's not foolproof. Microchips are not universal as there are different kinds and different scanners to go with them. It is one more way to identify your dog but it will not keep them safe. I know you'd never forgive yourself if something bad happened.

OMG that's horrible !!! This is so true and awful...but happens way more than we realize...I know someone who lost her little yorkie to a hawk and she was standing 20 feet away....the hawks dont HAVE to fly off with them - they can instantly kill them with the talons....
