| Crate When lexi was a baby she hated her crate, but we tried to be good parents and get her crate trained which we adventually achieved; however, she never grew to like her crate. Even after months of sleeping in the crate every night she would still cry and not get in volunterily....then we moved from Washington state to Mississippi and with all the hotel rooms and waiting for our house she ended up sleeping with us and there went the crate. She hasn't even seen the crate in six months. SO, I pulled it out today and asked her if she wanted to do crate time today and she got all excited. In her crate is her baby blanket, a kiss kiss bear and some string all things she played with as a baby. She ran to her crate and hopped right in...OMG i was so amazed....she promply rescued her friends, the string and he blanket and brought them out to the hall way. she then eased up to the fact of going in the crate. I guess she is a big girl now, and not afraid of the crate...i am so proud. She is one now, maybe we will reintroduce the crate for sleeping at night instead of sleeping between mommy and daddy.

| What a cute story! As far as sleeping nights in her crate again...hmmmm...I just don't know about that! I imagine she's found it pretty comfy with mom and dad! LOL

| I love your story Laura. Bailey sleeps with me when Tommie is working 4 nights out of the week but sleeps in his crate the other 3 nights. If I were Lexi I would want to sleep between mommy and daddy too. Hope all is well for you all in Mississippi and Bailey sure does miss his friend Lexi.

| We miss bailey too and we would love to meet the new puppy as well. Hopefully we will get stationed back at mcchord and we will all meet up again. We would like to transition her back to the crate but we don't blame her for not wanting to go in the crate. We would like to do what bailey's mom does a few nights with me as my husband is a pilot so he is gone alot but when he is home she can sleep in her crate, i guess we will work up to that, wish us luck.

| Thank you for sharing your story. It makes me feel a bit better. I get my puppy in 2 weeks and am feeling so bad about crating her, but I know that it has to be done. I'm thinking about putting the crate on my bed and sticking my fingers inside at night to make her feel better. Good luck with reintroducing Lexi to the crate! She's such a doll BTW! |

| it takes time to appreciate their own space I think puppies are just like small children. They hate to be sent to their rooms when they are young, but as they mature they begin to appreciate having their own space. My babies all have their own individual crates that they stay in when we are not home with them. After the juvenile period passes, my dogs have always enjoy going into crates on their own just for some alone time. My adults will go into their kennels on command without any incident and sometimes they will just get into them when we are home just to hang out and be left alone. My one year olds are quite there yet but I am sure they will get to that point too. |

| Cute story, but my pup is the opposite. He slept in the crate when he was young until we decided we would all sleep better if we let him sleep in his playpen. So we put the crate away in the basement. Well just recently my mom got a new pup and wanted to use our little crate until her pup got a little bigger. We brought it up from the basement and set it in the living room and Logan wouldn't even go near. It was funny to watch him make this huge circle around it when going from the couch to the kitchen. And if got forbid one of his toys went close to it he would bark and bark until we retrieved his toy away from the aweful thing. However, when we gave the cage to my mom's new pup she'll go in there all on her own. When she gets tired she'll go in there and lay on her bed and go to sleep. It's the cutest thing.
