I would like to begin making plans for a Yorkie Meet Up for April! I am thinking either the 15th or the 22nd, and here is the place I would like to go!

Suggested hours would be 11-3, to give travelers lots of time to get there and play. Let me know if you have a different suggestion for the time.

Country Park is fairly easy to access off I-40, and I tried getting there from both Burlington and Winston-Salem. The directions are much easier from Winston, so I think everyone should use the PTI exit 210 and go from there. I will post directions as we get closer, but here is a yahoo map.

I took a walk through yesterday. (bbbrrrrrr!!!) The park is beautiful, with loads of paths through the woods, a lake, a bird sanctuary, picnic shelters, monuments, and lots of amenities, as well as a dog park with a separate area for small dogs. I think it would be lovely to bring a picnic lunch, meet up around 11, get comfortable, and let the day go by.

There is also a cool Nature Museum, perfect for kiddos, so I would bring the family too!

So let me know what you think of this plan!! Come ON, NC folk !!(AND anyone else who wants to come!) What do you say?? :D

Sounds good to me!! I like the 15th the best, only because that weekend I am off work!! If I know far enough in advance I could try to weasel my way out of working the 22nd though. Love the idea about having a place for the kiddies...my 5 year old will LOVE it. Looking forward to meeting everyone and putting a face with the name. Now let's get some more folks involved!!

My husbands family is from NC. Uncle Roy is a Coach for the Tar Heels.
We were there years ago on a family trip. I can't fly any more, really bad ears.
If I want to keep my hearing, I have to drive back.
But we plan on taking a trip back, maybe next year.

Yes, same Roy, He went to KU but his heart and family is in NC.

So sorry our far away friends can't make it, and am so pleased for the NC folks that are planning on coming!! To all of you who have said you want to come, please feel free to email or PM any other NC Yorkie folks you know and tell them about this. I think it would be great to have a ton of people there!

I've been waiting for one in NC. It's only about 1hr. 15min. away so I'll be there. I know it's a yorkie meetup, but does anyone care if I bring Lucy's little brother Tank also? He a miniature Schnauzer and he'll be 4 months by then. Well I'll have to tell my husband I'm doing something different that day b/c he already thinks I'm nuts being on this website all the time.... If he knew I was meeting up with some of you he may try to commit me...LOLOL

Yeah, another NC Playdate!! Zeus and I will do our best to make it. I have to warn you though, my baby was not a lot of fun at the last one. He just wanted to sit, or be held rather, and watch everyone else!! :p I hope he will be better at this one! Can't wait!!

I would love to come to a meetup. I am in Blowing Rock, not too far from Greensboro at all. But, I am getting married on April 22!!! Maybe the next one. I am so excited to get married, but we are going on a 2 1/2 wk honeymoon and I cannot imagine how sad it is going to be not to be around my Princess. But, my mother loves Princess just as much as we do so she will be in good hands and very spoiled :D Everyone have fun!!!

The Forsyth Kennel Club match is April 22 at Tanglewood Park. I live in Kernersville and will come to the meet up if it is held on the 15th. I would LOVE to meet all of you.

If you have a show quality pup, we could practice on the 15th and go to the match on the 22nd.

This is a pretty extensive rules list, but I am sure it is for the best for the park managers as well as the pups and their people.


Bark Park Rules
Country Park, Greensboro

These rules are for everyone's safety. These posted here are also on signs at the BarkPark.

1. This is a designated Off-Leash Area.
2. No attendant on duty.
3. Users enter at your own risk
4. Handlers are legally responsible for any injuries caused by their dog(s) they bring into the off-leash area.
5. All dogs must be legally vaccinated. Dog(s) not wearing a visible dog vaccination tag are prohibited.
6. No dog(s) less than four (4) months of age are allowed in the off-leash area.
7. No female dog(s) in heat are allowed in the off-leash area.
8. Dogs must be leashed when entering and before exiting the off-leash area.
9. Dogs must be capable of being controlled by their handler at all times while in the off-leash area, and while entering and exiting the area.
10. Remove choke, spike, pinch, prong, or collars that may injure other dogs BEFORE play is allowed.
11. Children eight(8) years of age and younger are NOT allowed in the off-leash area.
12. Children under sixteen years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
13. Handlers must have ready access to the dog(s) leash at all times.
14. Maximum of three(3) dogs per handler.
15. Handlers are responsible for "Scooping the Poop" of their dog(s).
Please encourage others to do so, bags are provided.
16. Handlers must fill all holes dug by their dog(s) under their control.
17. No Smoking, Food, or Glass Containers. Training treats are allowed for your dog(s) only.
18. Dogs must be removed from the off-leash area at the first sign of aggression.
19. No animals other than dogs shall be permitted in the off-leash area.
20. Dogs with a known history of dangerous behavior are prohibited (not allowed).
21. Leave the park in better condition and cleaner than you found it.
22. No one shall taunt, tease, molest, or abuse ANY dog in the off-leash area or Country Park.
23. Handlers are responsible for any injury to animal or human caused by any dog toy, play object, or other item they have brought into the off-leash area.

IF we can make it it will be a day/weekend family event. Its at least 2 hours from us, so we'll most likely bring our RV and park somewhere. SO much easier with the kids :)
