Hi Glad! April 15 is marked on my calender. I can't wait! I'm gonna have to buy another card for my camera just to hold all the pics I am going to take! LOL As long as nothing comes up for me, I'll be there. :) |
Great idea, Amy! Here's the place! Quote:

I look forward to seeing you again, Robbie dear! :p |

Hey thanks for that!! I saved the link and will bring it up to hubby :) |
Any other NC folks coming to the MeetUp? Come on, let's see more interested North Carolina Yorkie Maniacs out there!! Actually, if anyone from TN, VA, or SC wants to come, you are more than welcome! Heck, if Mike from Alaska wanted to come, that's perfectly OK!!! :D |
I would absolutely love to come. Unfortunately, a two hour road trip is out of the question. I can't hardly sit in the car for 30 minutes right now. It sucks cause I used to travel to Winston-Salem to see my bro every other weekend. I haven't traveled up there since my spine surgery. It's just not possible. But make sure you take lots of pictures. :) |
I Want In!!!!!! Are you going to go?? I WANT TO COME. I live in charlotte and this is only about 1 hour 1/2 from me. What do I do to get in??? |
Courtney, honey, you are IN!! Quote:
Anyone else want to be on the list? Please PM me your email address! (Robbie, you are already there, my friend!) Oh I am getting SO EXCITED!! I just think this is going to be a BLAST!!! :p |
This whole rabies vac. i.d has to be shown? I don't even think I know where Thor's is? BUt he has his shot. How strict do you thing they are about this? |
I'm not sure... Quote:
|
I see in the rules that no children under 8 are allowed in the park. Is there any other place at the park that smaler children can be? I have a 5 year old son that really wants to go... |
The park is HUGE! Quote:
I think they keep little ones out of the enclosure to prevent injury on both sides, kids from possible bites, and dogs from kid related accidents. I trust you are bringing another adult who can watch your child while you are in the enclosure with the pups. I am sure you can see your child easily from the enclosure, but call me paranoid, lol, I wouldn't want to be 3 gates away from my kiddo... :( |

Ditto to the three gates away...Morgan has ADHD so three feet most times is too far!! He is a handful, but I am just blessed to have him. He was a preemie, only 2.5 lbs at birth and 2 months early. We were both very sick. As for another adult...yep, either my mom or the hubby. Can you believe the hubby might come? I also have to hide at night to YT as he thinks I have an online "friend". He really knows better, he just likes to get a rise out of me. He cannot understand what we can talk about ALL the time, so maybe he will see. He is obsessed with Jolene as I am, although he does it "from the closet". LOL. I keep telling him that real men love yorkies and he just rolls his eyes. He did say that he thinks se is lonely and needs a playmate!! Looking forward to the meetup and thanks for having it on the 15th. Hope to see you all there!! |
If I go, would it be ok to keep Bailey on his leash? We haven't gotten around to puppy school yet (I know I know...education is important), so I'm not very comfortable wiht the idea of him having free run yet. |
Easter I would love to be there, but that's Easter weekend and we'll most likely be in Ohio with family. I was about to say yes until I saw that it's a holiday weekend. Maybe the next one for us. If we do end up being in town can I bring Buckeye (my Boston) too? I'd feel bad coming with one and not the other. |
I'll find out for sure... Quote:

Let me know! |
Contact with BarkPark Here's the note and response I sent/recieved to/from the BarkPark lady! ******************************************** Subject: Question about possible Yorkie Meetup I am a member of a very popular Yorkshire Terrier forum called YorkieTalk.com. I have asked the NC members if they would be interested in getting a MeetUp together at your wonderful facility, and they gave a resounding YES! The date we plan is April 15th. I looked at your event calendar, and I see no conflicts. I anticipate probably 20 or more yorkies and their various people. I have posted your park rules and regs on our forum, and I am certain we will respect the parks rules. I am thrilled we have such a great facility nearby that is centrally located, and I thank you for putting it together. If you have any concerns or feel as though this may not be a good idea for some reason, please let me know ASAP so that we can make other arrangements. ********************* Response: I wanted to send you a quick e-mail to let you know that we received your e-mail, I'm sorry about the delay in responding. We've sent out an e-mail to the manager of Country Park for specifics on parking availability etc. for that day and will let you know as soon as we hear back. The park is closed to cars on weekends and we're checking to make sure the lot closest to the bark park will be available to you, and also if an escort would be available if you needed to drive up to unload anything. Thank you for your interest in using the BarkPark for your MeetUp, this is actually one of the reasons the BarkPark was set up the way it is. We're working on a better map of the lots and would probably just reserve one of them for you that day. I will list your website on our links page if you'd like (please confirm what you'd like listed). Thank you, Sharon A. Knight BarkPark *************************** I will let y'all know if I receive further response. |
Hope you can still come... Quote:

Leah I seen that they have rules at this park. I am not going to go. "5. All dogs must be legally vaccinated. Dog(s) not wearing a visible dog vaccination tag are prohibited. 11. Children eight(8) years of age and younger are NOT allowed in the off-leash area." I have my little boy that is or would have to go with me. I can't find Peynot's and dont know when I would get Chewy's. Plus like you said that is the week that I have to go to church and be with family. I hope that you have to and let me know if you go. |
Sorry this is a problem... Quote:
The meetup is Saturday, not Easter Sunday. And as far as kids not allowed in the enclosure, as long as your pup is on a leash, you don't HAVE to go inside the enclosure at all! You can still be with us, meet us, and see everyone's pups and have FUN with your kiddos outside the enclosure. I sure do hope that everyone comes, regardless of the perceived restrictions. We can WORK AROUND THINGS! :p |
Yes please come. Charlotte isn't too far away from Gboro! We would love love love to see everyone there!!!! Come one, come all...this is mandatory!! (well not really... ) It's going to be so fun!!!! :yelrotflm :animal37 :we're #1: :thumbs_up :jump28ib: |

Have fun in Ohio! Hopefully it will be spring when you get there!! I know they can get dumped on right up until May! :p |
Here is the note I sent yesterday to the BarkPark Ms Knight, I have run into a couple areas of concern on the rules of the Bark Park. There are some parents of kids age 5 and up that would like to come that have problems with the fact that their kids are not allowed in the dog enclosure. Is there any flecibility there? Also, many yorkie owners do not allow their pups to wear collars and dog tags as the trachea of the yorkie is extremely fragile. Therefore, many yorkie owners have NO IDEA where their rabies tags ever ARE! Is paper vacination copies from the vet acceptable in lieu of visible tags? Thanks for your help! *************************************** I will post her response when she gets back to me. It usually takes her a couple days. :p |
I'm so bummed... I don't think we'll be there by than... :( |
Next time! Quote:

Response from BarkPark Hey, everyone!! The issues raised are NON-issues!! Kids are welcome inside Lot A's enclosure with our group, and you do not have to find your rabies dog tags OR paper! Here is what Ms. Knight had to say: "As far as the age restrictions that's not going to be a problem for your group, it's a rule for safety based on the fact that there's some large dogs that use the bark park and a small child could get hurt. Same thing with the rabies vaccination proof. I don't see any reason why you'd have to bring that with you, the main thing is that they are current on vaccinations, for your and your pets' protection. " So HOORAY!! Everyone can come, then, RIGHT? Now as far as the date is concerned, if it is really going to be a problem with having the meetup on the Saturday of Easter Weekend, should we be talking about changing the date to the prior Saturday??? What does everyone think? Ms. Knight is reserving the lot A for us, and you can see the map of it here. http://www.gsobarkpark.org/whatisbarkpark.htm I have told her that all Yorkies are welcome, so there may be other Yorkies there that are not currently YT members but you can bet we will convert them! I will be meeting her there the weekend prior to the MeetUp to walk the park and discuss any issues at that point. OK!! Before Ms. Knight puts up a "Reserved Sign" which she is planning to do next week, let's discuss and finalize the date! SHOULD WE CHANGE TO THE PRIOR WEEKEND? Yes or No? |
The weekend before we maybe up house hunting and I could go!! Please... The weekend before... :) |
