| Bet no one is like me!!!!! Not counting the one Yorkie pup I saw about 10 years ago ---- and, I saw my Yorkie's litter mate when I got him..... I have never seen a Yorkie other than my own. Yes, of course, I have seen a million pictures and have watched them on all the dogs shows forever. But, I have never had a friend or know any person who owned a Yorkie other than myself. I held my first Chinese Crested a week ago. What a treat! I've had a lot of dogs in my life -- several mutts - an Irish Setter, a Lab, an Afghan Hound, a Poodle Pom, a Bichon, and a Brittany Spaniel. But I now own my first little Yorkie - what a cutie!!!!!!! And, my friends have owned almost every other breed imaginable --but never a Yorkie! Anyway - I was just thinking about this ........ | That's interesting! When I was about 13, I babysat for a family who owned two yorkies, I think they might have had babies, but me and the kids were not allowed to be around them. About 6 years ago, my sister asked me to babysit a yorkie for a friend for a couple of weeks. When he got back, he asked if I wanted to keep him; Of course, I did. He died after about 1 year which broke my heart. I also have had a lot of dogs. At the time, we had a norwegian elkhound, a german shepherd, a border collie, and a llaso apso. About 3 years ago, I found myself with no dogs. I decided I wanted a yorkie, but my husband was VERY against small 'yap' dogs, as he called them. I jokingly told him that I would know he really loved me when he got me a yorkie. Two years ago for my birthday, he wanted to take me to get my yorkie - and we came home with two. He adores them! We had pups last year, and now we have 6! It's funny, because until we got yorkies, I didn't know so many people had them, now it seems they are everywhere!

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I'd never seen a Yorkie until we got ours, but I've seen a dozen since. I'm amazed you haven't seen more!

| Guess again. I did research about dog breeds and decided on a Yorkie. Went to a pet store in K.C. and saw an adorable puppy. From my readings on here,I knew not to buy. More research, and I found a breeder, called her up. She told me to look at the puppy on her website, and I said I'll buy her. Three days later we picked her up. I've seen one other Yorkie since. |

| I wanted one all of my life because of the ones I saw. When my two oldest daughters were toddlers, i took them to Florida to visit my mother's relative and my aunt had two. I was in love with them but I knew my kids were too young for the breed so I talked several friends without kids or with older kids to get them so i could enjoy them vicariously. In 2004 I finally got my first yorkie and now I am an addict!! |
