This is a sign of dominance. The dog that is humping the other dog is exerting dominance. See the website for Dog Crazy Newsletter by Dr. Jon, he had an article on this a while back.

Yep my Tanj humps Febi every so often. I use to tell her no and pull them apart, but now Tanj knows when she gets the look

and I say "Tanjhei" she will stop and move away. BTW it is dominance, both my girls are spayed.

If she just started this, there is a good chance it may be because she is in heat. The only time any of my girls have ever humped anyone was either right before their heat cycle or during their heat cycle. They can become such horn dogs, lol. As soon as they are out of heat or shortly thereafter, they stop.

It could just be a dominance thing but if it just started during her heat cycle I would be more inclined to think that was the cause.
Either way I would discourage the behavior.

She does it during her entire cycle but she does stop after a few weeks. Hopefully your Chloe will stop soon too. I think it is very humorous too, especially since Bo is ten times bigger than Chloe and often stands up while she is doing it and Chloe takes a little horsy ride. LOL!
