| Concerned Snickers was in his bed and had a accident. I noticed his Urine is Dark yellow and thick. He is not in pain and has been eating. He has been drinking water too. Do you think he may have a UTI infection. How does the vet check for this? |

| I would keep an eye on it! I think after holding it all night sometimes it is too yellow and dark. As long as it clears up pretty quickly, it should be ok. I think it is probably an inexpensive and easy test for the vet, but may be more costly at the emergency vet.

| I would wait to see if he does it again. If so I would take him into a vet monday morning. If you see any other changes in mood, or eating habbits, then I don't think it would hurt to atleast give the er vets a call. Good luck and I hope he feels better soon. I hate it when our little ones get sick.

| Definitely wait - you may have no problem at all. I'm sure if I examined my dog's pee and poop all the time - I'd be worried now and then. My pup has had darker urine at times (I notice this because of the stain) and has had a little diarrhea occasionally (probably from his recent diet)..... I don't worry about these things when they happen - but would notice them if they happened for a longer period of time. Remember everything we eat has an effect on our peeing and pooping....and more often than not, it is just a temporary thing. Carol Jean |

| His health is what you want to watch, if he seems happy, healthy and normal otherwise, it may just be from something he ate. Vitamins and such do that to humans.

| Did someone answer your question? To determine if he has a UTI they will test a urine sample. It's a simple test, but more difficult to get the sample! Sometimes vets will do the test without you brining him in as long as he's acting normal. They can get the results and then decide if they need to see him. The test is less than $20. They might want to see him but you can ask if they will give you this option. If you do need to get the sample, I use those throw away ziplock storage containers. I wait til he squats and shove it under him. Then I pop on the top and put it in a plastic bag. Just give him lots of water. Keep track of how many times he pees today and if it looks like it's hurting him at all. If he does have UTI they will prescribe antibiotics. It's unlikley but it could also be nighttime incontinence issues. There is a very safe inexpensive drug for that as well. It's very likely he just drank too much and had an accident.
