I know I GET a LOT of love! More than one person can take when they all try to kiss you at once! I guess bath day is the busiest time to have six, other than that, it's about the same. I keep brushes everywhere, and whichever one is in my lap, I usually brush him/her. I've been painting my room and baseboards this week, everyone has paint in their hair, and when I am on the floor, it is hard to see the baseboards through the crew. But WE ALL love them, hubby and the boys, too. My husband is embarrassing how he jumps down on the floor when he gets home to get all that lovin'.

Chester is a lover dog, he likes to be next to me but he also has his independent and stubborn streak as well. His mom was a mellow dog and the dad I heard was hyper. Chester got lots of cuddling and loving as a puppy and still does, he loves to give kisses and likes to jump up and lay on my chest by my shoulder, he is also protective of me in a good way.

I've read that Yorkies hold stonger to the sex stereotypes and that girls can more stuborn and independent while boys are more playful and loving. What do you all think about that? I was really wanting a female puppy, but now I'm thinking a male may be better for me if this is true. Thank you in advance for your help. I'm sure I'll be asking more questions soon!
I thought the same thing untill i got my female.

Sketter came first and 5 mon. later Annie. I have to tell ya i think every furbaby is diff. My Sketter is a big momma's boy, he watches my every move and sticks right by me. He's very loving. Now Annie she has to be in the mood. But then again she's a daddies girl. So she hangs on him.

Somebody told me that the one who cares for them the most is who the yorkie will get attached to.

who knows, i'd say you will get alot of opinions from everyone and they will all be diff.

You have to meet your baby and he/she will pick you.

Good luck and welcome to YT

This is a very interesting question, but as much as I love both my boy and my girl, I definitely see a distinction. Kenzy is my only male yorkie, but I had another female yorkie before Paddy.

The girls are independent spirits, more laid back but ready to comment on everything. Paddy also has to have the last word! She is not very playful (neither was Wimbley) but Paddy just loves to lie in our laps and be held. But if you mess with her too much, she will jump down and get on the couch or in her bed.

Kenzy on the other had is so incredibly playful and sweet. He is a mama's boy from day one and won't let me out of his sight. Just a different nature altogether. But I wonder if it is because of his size too. He is tiny, and Paddy is bigger and more confident. Hope that helps!

I have boys and girls and they really are individual personalities regardless of sex. I have a sweet but sassy boy who talks back and a sweet boy who is as close to a human baby as a dog can get. I have 2 females that are very sweet. One is the pup of the other. The pup has her Mom's sweet disposition. A lady who lives nearby has a female that is so independant ... more like a cat...you hold her ONLY when she LETS you. They are all different. It also depends on how calm and consistent you are with them. A lot of problems derive from the owner. Though, like children, some are just going to be the way they are regardless Have fun and look through the threads here on YT, there is an abundance of helpful info.!!!

I've got three Yorkies and they're all totally different. I've got two girls and a boy. At first the boy (Bobo) was running around a lot and couldn't sit still while the other two girls were quiet and cuddley. Now, as they all have gotten older, Bobo has calmed down A LOT and is now the couch potato, while Brownie and Cece (the girls) have gotten a lot more active. It just depends on the personality of the dog, not the gender.....

hmmm....Zoe is the first yorkie that I have but I've had female beagles and I realized that females are calmer but it really does depend on the invidual dogs. I love my baby boy ZOe. He's a bundle of fun.

Hello, I just adopted a beautiful little female yorkie on Jan. 31st. She is a cuddly, sweet little doll. She is put out in the morning for her piddle, and runs straight to my bedroom to wake me up with kisses. Her name is Pepper and she is just about 6 mos old. My question is about personality as well, or maybe this is more of an attitude issue.... This past Friday night she snapped at my husband, we figured it was a jealousy issue as I had my legs propped up on him while she was on his lap. But she nipped at his chin and got up on her back legs and scratched at his face. This happened again once with my daughter (13) and once with my son (8). As she hasn't done this to me yet I was wondering if it is a jealousy thing. Does she own me? LOL
Any feedback would be much much appreciated, PeppersMom

Sounds like she does, but as cute as these things are when they are so tiny grow to be troublesome. I would stop it right away. Same with barking - it is so cute when they bark those tiny barks, but six months down the road - people get rid of their dog for being an annoyance. 'Nip it in the bud'

PeppersMom, I totally agree with Laura. You have to end it now before it becomes a huge problem. Her disposition in general sounds very sweet so you should be able to stop this behaviour pretty quickly. EVERYONE has to stick to the method you choose. Good luck

Laura thanks for the quick reply: Yes, nipping it in the bud is my goal. All I did was used "no" and put her on the flor. I figured denying her my attention might be the best punishment for this sensitive little creature. Any other discipline methods??? I used the kennel the third time but I stongly believe this should be their safe haven, from big people etc, not a time-out... so to speak. And as for barking I've heard her bark just once, she is very quiet. She has growled and that was only when playing and when we had those 3 lil incidents. Thank goodness I don't have that to deal with as well...lol
Thank you Lisa

Lisa, I think that sounds good! If it keeps up, it may call for more, but no need if it stops. You just have to be careful of unintentionally rewarding them for such bad behavior. I do rarely put one in 'time out' in their cage for fighting meanly with another. I don't actually think they consider it punishment, but it gives them a couple of minutes to regroup. If the fightee goes over to glare, I switch them out! Maybe your Hubby and kids need to spend a little personal time with her, too. She sounds like such a cutiepie! Good luck with potty training, too.

My mom and I have females from the same litter. Hers is very feisty and stubborn but lovable and loving as can be. Mine is also lovable and loving but in addition is very compliant and eager to please and laid back. They were with the mother and other litter mates to 12 weeks and they still see each other about twice a week. Just a difference in personality in individuals I guess.
