| Bald spot?? Hi, my 18 month yorkie has a bald spot on his flank. He has a nice coat, no itching or licking and the spot isn't crusty or red. Normal skin and a totally bald about the size of a dime. Any ideas? thanks |

| Sorry, I haven't heard of this; but I would probably have the vet take a look next appointment. Is new hair growing there? Maybe just had a little pulled out and you hadn't noticed before?

| Mine has a bald spot the size of a quarter on the top of his leg from where he got his vaccinations. I know this has happened to others too. Could that be it?

| I would bet that is exactly where he received his puppy shots. I groom dogs and we see those bald spots all the time. I asked my vet about it and he confirmed that some dogs react to the vaccines and get these bald spots. It probably won't grow back unfortunately. Yorkies are so hairy that it is not that much of a big deal but on some dogs it really shows up.

| bald spot Thanks guys. I just talked to the breeder and she said it was from the shots. She said her vet has seen this with the Fort Dodge vaccines the most. I just ordered 25 doses of that brand and I hope it's ok. I did sell a pup to someone that had a bald spot too about 1 yr later, and they never did figure out what it was. Now I know and can pass on that info to them. thanks again! Jeanie |

| bald spot my yorkie got a bald spot from his rabies shot. they told me to make sure all rabies related shots are in the same spot so he does not get more bald spots. i just give him a little comb over to cover it. |
