Sleep Incontinence I have a 9 year old Yorkie. Very playful, eats good. My issue is, she suddenly developed sleep incontinence. She has no issues while awake. I had a urine sample tested and her specific gravity is normal. I’m shocked she developed this, it came on so suddenly. Has anyone else ever experienced this in a female that age?

I actually have a foster who developed the same issue....once infection was ruled out, my vet started him on Proin and that fixed the problem.

| [I actually took in two urine samples. The first one showed no infection but the specific gravity was off so then next day they did just a specific gravity and it was ok. I would ask about bringing her in for a C&S. That should be done by cystocentesis.

Piper has become erratically incontinent. Due to her digestive issues, she reacts badly to Proin. My vet said incontinence is common in "older" and spayed dogs.

Allie is only 9. I really don’t want her on drugs unless it gets out of control. I prefer something natural. Thank you for your response.

Piper is 9.5 lbs and ten yrs old. I would give her prescribed medicine for her comfort, but my vet says we will revisit her issue if the incontinence becomes too much. I totally understand wanting to stay away from "drugs" if possible and wish you best of luck. I'll be anxious to hear if you've find something safe/natural that works.

Hello. I have a 2yo femaile and the same thing happened to her, she does however, have bladder stones. She had 3 occurrences, out of nowhere, which baffled us as well. She had a urine culture and xrays done. Vet said it usually happens when estrogen levels decrease and usually within 9 months of being spayed. She was spayed over a year ago. She said it may just go away , but left a prescription for her ready if it continued. Hasn’t happened again, knock on wood. I ended up buying waterproof dog throw blankets since it would occur on our bed. I know what your going through. I hope you find an answer or hopefully just goes away as well.
