| Ouch! Baby "digs" on my legs! When Baby tries to get my attention, she comes up to me and starts scratching/digging on my legs. It sure does hurt! She is so intense it looks like her "eyebrows" are slanting down like she is mad at me for not paying attention to her. Does anyone else's Yorkie dig at their legs?

| lol She is simply aching for your attention, but if it really bothers you it is a habit you should train her to stop doing.

| My Yorkie will politely tap her paw on my leg and look at me, if that doesnt work.. a low growl. Sometimes she will sit next to me on the couch, put a paw on my arm and look at me as to say "Im waiting!" SOO spoiled but atleast shes very polite When my Yorkie wants under the covers in bed, she will scratch my shoulders trying to get under the blanket. OUUUCCCH! I hope you dont give in to what she wants! Hopefully with time she will understand thats not how she gets her attention. Maybe try some bitterapple?

| I find the squirt bottle works well (if you can reach it). Often I make the sound 'ssshhht', like the squirt sound to settle them down. Trina is my digger. She has the fastest paws in the west. It's been nice since winter that I have on long pants. I have to stop her before summer arrives. I also use their conditioner to squirt them, I take care to spray it on their back and not into their faces, but it works just as well and makes them smell fresh. They hate being sprayed.

| My dog doesn't scratch my legs "often," but he is a digging, scratching little fool. Yorkies were bred to use their little feet for digging and scratching. So, it's hard to stop something from doing something that is so natural for them to do. When I'm on the sofa and my pup starts anything like that - I have a small comforter that I cover myself with. And ---- I ignore him! Plus I have a couple of those "chew stick things" and through him one. About half the time, he'll start chewing on one of these for a while. I think my pup is still young enough (5-6 months) that he is doing a lot of things he will stop doing when he gets older --especially if I ignore him! Good luck - Carol Jean |

| my little girl does this all the time. if im not holding her on my lap and im sitting she will scratch at my legs and arm. she also does it so intensly almost like she has something to tell you. lol she is also the attention vacume. if im petting my other two dogs she will jump on me with the scratching as if i had a treat in my hands and she wasnt getting one. I dont know, i feel like she thinks it all about her. If i rub her belly she clinches my hand with her front paws like she holding me, i feel its her way of giving me a hug. Maybe im her possesion and i should do as im told. lol |

| Sophie does this also, and whenever she does, I tell her "Later," and she stops. Don't ask me how she knows what "Later" means, but for some reason she gets it and backs off. It may take your gently pushing your pup away and saying no until it sinks in. Sophie also digs furiously from time to time...on the carpet or her bed or on the sofa. It's funny to watch, and then she totally exhausts herself and lies there panting until she gets her second wind and starts again. |

| My Lucy (who is 3 1/2 years old) does the same thing (digging on my legs). It is her way of saying "PICK ME UP!!!".

| Ouch! I bet that hurts!!!! Maybe she just want you to hold her. If you let her know (in a nice way) it hurts, she will stop. She's still young, I'm sure she will learn it hurts you. I just hope for you're sake it's soon. Hang in there!!! Yorkies Gotta Love Them!

| I know this is TMI but my coco does this when I go to the bathroom. I am yet to go alone so as soon as I sit down she starts scratching and scratching. I one day said enough is enough because it does hurt. I just started saying NO very loudly and pushing her off of me. She is finally getting the point cuz she backs down now. It is such a bad habit and it is SOOOO annoying to me. |

| OH yeah, Tigger does this when trying to get a toy that fell by my legs, or when trying to get under the covers. When he wants my attention he barks, or will jump into my lap, or bring over a toy and drop it on me or my feet. He's also begun eating his dingo's on my legs. YUCK!

| It is funny that you all complain about your babies doing that to get your attention and I am glad that Buckeye does it. Oh I complain about it sometimes but he doesn't usually do it to get me to pick him up. It is usually because he wants out or needs something (such as under the covers). sometimes I am concentrating on something and don't notice him staring at me and he has to dig on my leg to let me know.
