It’s been long enough now, though, that you would probably see signs if the wound were getting infected.

| ![]() Thanks for that info. I wasn't aware of this, then again, this is the first time I have encountered any dog of mine ever in a fight with another animal. I'll need that info. for Mr Trouble. Thankfully his eye and area is looking fine. He is a very lucky boy.

| ![]() Piper goes after my mom's declawed cat at every opportunity and fails miserably at "getting" Alice most of the time. However, last week Piper caught Alice in the bathtub where she was hiding out from thunderstorm (Piper has never managed to get in the tub before...). I hear caterwallin (terrible screaming sound from Alice) and hubbub and find them both slip sliding around in tub. I managed to grab Pipe and Alice flew out. Alice was fine cuz Piper is missing teeth--cat with no claws, dog with no teeth, all good! But Piper did get cut on her lip. I flushed with water and Piper is fine. I realize it's very very different as Alice is housecat, etc., but man-o-man, do they ever mix it up! Piper thinks it's Christmas morning anytime she can go after Alice! And as you say, Matese, that prey drive in our two, for sure, overtakes and supersedes all else. When she is close to quarry, Piper hears nothing, sees nothing, feels nothing, period. And it always, always happens in literally, the blink of an eye. |

| ![]() So so so very glad and relieved that your mighty hunter (so true) is all good. But geez louise, the speed and determination of these guys is unbelievable! Give that little Codiak Bear a hug and smooch for me!! |

| ![]() Hi Dana, so good to see you. I still can't get the vision of that kitten out of my head, poor thing, I never saw eyes as big as that kitty had. Thankfully Cody just a slight scratch on his lower eye lid. When I saw it was a CAT he had I thought for sure he had his eyes ripped out of his face. I don't know how I got through to him, I kept screaming his name screaming to leave it not knowing what he had. When I saw it was a kitten on it's back wedged between the deck and the house, claws going at Cody's face I screamed his name, that got his attention. Now I go out first to make sure nothing is on the deck, this is his 2nd catch that I was able break that focus, I may not be so lucky if there's a 3rd time, so I check all covered things to make sure no critter is taking shelter. That Piper girl is too much lol, they do keep us on our toes that's for sure. Thank you for your concern.

AMEN AMEN AMEN!!! You are soooo right! The only time Piper was even slightly deterred in getting Alice is when Alice "missed" the piano and fell on top of Piper. Both of 'em did a "whhhaaaa..." then Alice disappeared into her room! I don't believe in having a cat declawed, but Alice came to my mom this way and I gotta say, I'm really grateful for that Piper's and my world today!
