Deepest condolences, Taylor. We've all felt that pain and sorrow, and there just aren't words for it. We always feel slightly comforted by remembering 10 (or however many) years of joy and love and fun. I hope the sorrow lessens soon.

Very true, each time I read of a loss I cry remembering having to let my beloved Matese go, the pain of loosing her, I know how it feels, and always wish I could be with the person to try to ease their pain. Although we never get to met the furries in person we love them through the stories we've been told we get to know them, love them and we hurt along with you. It took me two years to remember the good times when Matese was younger and happily burying then unbury a toy to bury it someplace else, I can smile and not cry. It will take time, but a day will come when you will remember the happier days.

Thank you everyone. Last night was so bad. I went to grab the pups night shirts and hers was one top and that’s when the full break happened. I gathered myself enough to get everyone ready for bed but cried myself to sleep. Callie had to have full access to the house at night so she could get water and potty but the youngest two could have that full house access so just Callie was sleeping in my room and the others upstairs with my parents so I was alone and it was hard last night. I’m going to start the process of moving them back to my room soon. Penny who has never snapped at me snapped at me last night, Joey keeps hiding and just not wagging his tail that much and Ollie is just sad looking. They aren’t really looking for her though kinda like they knew. Callie was my first so I had never let one go before and it was very hard and didn’t know what expect. When they gave her the sedation she fought it but when they gave her the last medicine she didn’t have any of the things that sounded terrible that they said might happen. Many of the staff at the vets office told her goodbye. My vet was only letting one person in but she made an exception for my mom they said this was the only exception she has made. You can never really prepare yourself for that and the after effects.

They are feeding off your emotion, they feel your grief, thankfully they have each other, they will recover quickly. I went through this when I had my pack of 3. My oldest one passed, my middle gal was 9 the baby was 6, they had each other. Their grief did not last long because they had each other.

I swear I have heard Callie’s tags jingle two different times. One time everyone was a sleep but me and I was headed to the bathroom and other time was after my shower when I was alone in my bedroom. Joey only had one other day of peeing in the house and he stopped. The other 2 seem to be adjusting ok. I’m not sleeping well though. I miss her so much.

Aw Taylor, I’m so sorry. RIP Sweetest Callie.
The tag thing... weird. When my cat passed, I swear I saw him once a day for 3 days in a row. I think he just wasn’t ready to leave then, and his spirit just hung around for a bit. Special sign that she’ll be with you and watching you from beyond.

You are in my thoughts. Please know that it will get better in time, and one day you will realize that you are smiling when a memory pops into your mind. Until that time it will be a roller coaster of ups and downs...just try to hang on and be patient with yourself. Again, I am so very sorry. I don't think it is unusual to hear our pups after they have gone to the Bridge. It has happened to me with two of my dogs. I don't know the reason why we hear them but I did find some comfort in that and I hope you did too.

When I had to let Matese go, for 2 weeks I could hear her snoring, I heard her nails catching in the carpeting. Then it stopped. I have no answer why, but it was kinda comforting. It's going on 7 years she's gone and I still miss and cry for her. Callie will remain in your heart and thoughts forever. The love and bond you had with her was strong and will always remain strong (((hugs)))

I picked up Callie’s ashes yesterday. I know it’s not her and that she left her body and is whole and complete in Heaven but the paw prints they did kinda broke me. It seems like everything I do for the first time with just 3 is devastatingly sad.
