| Retractable Gate Does anyone have a baby gate/retractable pet gate on their stairs? I have been thinking about getting one and wanted to know other's experience if they had one.

| I have a baby gate for my kitchen entry way. I love it. Thumper and Bella are very mischievous so I cannot trust them to roam around the apartment when I am working. I did not feel comfortable keeping them in a crate all day so this is the best solution. Over the years I have learned I also need to keep all things off the floor and away or else they get into it as well when I am not home. They are perfect angels when I am with them but leave them home and they turn into little devils. Since both like to jump high I got a gate that is 36 inches high. This way they cannot jump over it.

| I had one for my hallway and it scared Callie so I had to get rid of it. I used a plastic tension gate for awhile and then my dad built me a gate that slides to close the hallway and then slides to be flush with the wall.

| hopefully it works out, there's mixed reviews online. I have a standard run of the mill baby gate so wanted to upgrade.

| When I had puppies I had the standard baby gates. I have no steps in my house, but if I did, I would chance this retractable one, it's really very nice looking. If you do get it, please let us know how it's working out.

| I use an old fashioned adjustable wooden baby gate on the stairs when we go to visit our grandchildren. Without it Gus would be exploring the stairs constantly. We live on one level in Florida, but my oldest son lives in our family home in NY. The basement stairs are steep, and end in a hardwood floor. Our son built us a small apartment downstairs, and we keep Gus in the bedroom, behind the French doors, if we cannot supervise him...when he built the suite, he opened up the bottom six stairs to improve the open feeling, and Gus now has a chance to hop up and down.
