| covid-19 virus found in tiger and dog This is getting scary. Covid - 19 has been found in three separate species........bats, dogs and now tigers..... four if you include humans. If corona virus is able to jump multiple different species............I don't even want to think about the implications of that. https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/05/us/ti...rnd/index.html https://www.marketwatch.com/story/se...ets-2020-03-20 Last edited by yavenay; 04-06-2020 at 05:01 AM. |

| I didn’t believe them when they said it couldn’t. Even from the beginning the CDC’s website said to stay away from even your pets if you had symptoms. Whenever I am sick I try not to let the babies directly in my face.

| If it’s of any interest, here in England it is reported that although tests showed virus cells on the dogs they were most likely residue from their infected owner as the dogs did not become sick. No dogs tested here have been positive. At 17 the Pomeranian was said to most likely have died from age related conditions accelerated by separation anxiety & the subsequent stress of being apart from it’s owner while in quarantine . Some pet cats have tested positive & been found to pass the virus between both themselves & humans but no such results have been found in dogs. |

| The common cold is a variant of corona virus in humans. The coronavirus vaccine for dogs covers two types of coronavirus. My vet said there are actually over 200 variants of coronavirus that can affect dogs. Here, in 2009, when I adopted Tinkerbell from the Humane Society, coronavirus had been running through many places where dogs were kept in close quarters. She came home with a very runny nose and passed it to Peek a boo. As he was older at the time, he became extremely ill and almost died from it. Tink had clear fluid running out her nose. Peek a boo had massive amounts of white mucus where he could barely breathe nor eat. He had a fever of 105 F. The first antibiotics did not work, and on the second day the vet changed them and Peek showed great improvement in 24 hours, and recovered completely. I was scared out of my mind. Never saw an animal so sick in my life, not even during the 10 years I worked as a vet tech. I did not catch anything from either dog. Peek was so bad off, they wouldn’t admit him to the hospital (I pleaded) and basically sent him home to die, so I was in very close contact caring for him throughout his illness. Whenever I have symptoms of illness I try to stay out of my dogs faces out of an abundance of caution you never know.

| My Thumper actually has the virus (not Covid-19) but some other form of Covid. I found out when he was having GI issues and they ran a diarrhea panel. Apparently it is common in animals but usually it is a different strain of the virus.

| I don’t know if they still do but there used to be a vaccine for it that puppies got.

For Thumper since he already has it, its useless for him. I have not decided if I want to give it to Bella.
