But, they, Yorkies, are also the Toy Group size. So I get it.
Callie couldn't care less about mice and stuff. I'm thinking part of that may have to do with me having a hamster when she was a puppy and part is she is just a very chill dog. Ollie has killed 2 mice and a rabbit that I swear was bigger then him. Joey likes the chase but is unsure of what to do when he gets to it so he will back off. Penny my little chubby short legged Penny is just not fast enough lol. My moms yorkie rescue was a huge hunter too. I did barn hunt workshop with Joey, Penny, and Ollie and they just were not interested and sadly I think that was because the rats were safe in a tube. If it wore in a real barn with loose rats or mice it would be game on. This is why no matter how trained they are I absolutely will not let them off leash because we have to many animals around us.

The younger generation is worse, ones that have never owned a dog actually believe they have a pure bred dog, very very sad.

I agree, many of the larger yorkies are from puppy mills, these are factories that produce dogs, they mate their females with every heat until that females dies. Disgusting. Morkies are the most popular and the most expensive, next is the yorkiepoo, but not as expensive but they will be and soon, makes me sick to my stomach.

Then we get newbies that say their puppy is CKC registered lol, what they don't know is, there are two CKC

one is the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) this is like our AKC your litter has to registered.

The the 2nd CKC is the "Continental" Kennel Club (CKC) which is a bogus registry, you can list your kitchen table, they require no proof of a litter, nothing.

It would sicken me if I had to pass a puppy mill often.

You and I could not agree more! And CKC? I always, when someone says, "....is registered with CKC..." I ask which one. Ha! It's like when someone tells you they came in 3rd in a Conformation Show.....I learned early to ask how many dogs were in the class (you will often find out 3).

Luckily the mill I was talking about is 'off the beaten path', (I know, big surprise right?) and not THAT near us. We have passed it when we head to other Trail Heads of Katy to ride our bicycles. They have a kennel sign out front (I mean, after all they are USDA approved and registered, right? <rolls eyes>) So we googled them, they have a website.....brags on being USDA approved in more than one spot..... I will have to try to remember the name....

As you said, we have been saying for yeeeeeears! These younger people were not raised with animals the way we were. I had, yes, me, I had a LOT of animals as a kid....and my parents made sure that I TOOK GOOD CARE OF THEM. And if it came down to a point that I did not, my parents would threaten to get rid of such animal, as well as punishment for me. We were all RAISED to be responsible for the pets we had.....or else. Trouble followed....and not for the animals....for the kids of our generation.

When we raised our kids they were taught to care for and respect animals. My rule was that if you mistreated or teased an animal, you got double that from me....my step sons thought I was kidding. They found out quick I was not.

People just don't have that today. And kids, they have phones and pads not skinned knees and bikes and pets.....it's really sad to me. So. They learn, if you don't want an animal anymore, just ditch it. Not punishment or consequences for bad behavior.

We do too. If it is not bad enough how 'active' the coyotes are here (woke us up several times the last two nights in a row), I now, for the last 3 days, have seen 2 very large birds flying over this and the farm across the road. I really think they are Eagles; looking to nest.....oh goody! <sighs>

Today we worked out back, reclaiming some of the back yard. We bought 10 acres that the previous owners did not..... Our place sits inside of Farmed Fields all around. I LOVE IT! But. Yes. Like you. Too many other animals to let Katy run off leash. I will let her off after a bike ride. After we unhook our GSD from the Springer, Katy gets out of her Basket (It has a lid that zips so that takes a bit longer) and let the two run around while (we are both right there) put the bikes in the Sun Room. But that is the extent of Katy off leash. She has never been and probably won't, in the back pasture/yard. She was crated today while we mowed and chain sawed and such around the outskirts reclaiming more for yard. We have a pond. Our GSDs LOVE IT! But Katy? I would be scared that something big (snapper turtle) might pull her under! One day, who knows... I MIGHT let her ride in my Kayak with me....but like I said...probably not. Also, that is where the horses are.

We have an old barn, and a couple sheds. But. We have Barn Cats and Stray Cats that come, and that I feed, that keep it clear of, well? anything. AND I AM THANKFUL FOR THAT! These cats are FAT HEALTHY HAPPY CATS!

Poor Penny is one of those pets that was for a 12 year old and she lost interest by the time she was 8 months so her mom listed her on fb and said if some one didn’t take her she was going to the pound.

We live on three acres. If I were rich I would fence it all in but haven’t won the lottery yet lol. We have a small fenced in area they get to enjoy but they like to hunt moles so I have to fill holes here and there. We have a small above ground pool that if we get in I let the pups in minus Callie due to her hating it and swim or float on a float and then they go back in the fence and lay in the grass and dry while watching us. Penny loves to swim.

Lottery Dreams! Funny that. If I have trouble sleeping, like the wee hours of this morning, I take my mind to....."What if we won the Lottery......" Ha Ha Yes. We play. Lottery tickets in town, 12 miles round trip, makes a GREAT 'destination bicycle ride'. Ha Ha And if I get tired riding, I think about.....Lottery Dreams. (Deron has still not found a job)

Cody was gotten for a 8 year old girl whose parents had just gotten divorced, the grandmother and the great grandmother chipped in to buy the child a puppy so she wouldn't feel the pain that daddy wasn't there anymore. Then we got hit by hurricane Sandy, they lived in NY right off the water, their house flooded they had to evacuate, Cody was put into a shelter for 16 days, when they got him back he was sick, mom just had a baby and no finances to care for the dog. The dog had bloody diarrhea for 4 months, the mother took him to 4 different vets, (I have all his medical papers the prev. owner turned over with the dog). She couldn't afford to keep paying vets. She was sending him to a shelter that euthanized dogs. My vets rescue team monitors high risk dogs, they saw Cody was 2 1/2 years old to be euthanized, they new of a NY rescue and Cody was relayed to NJ, then to Pa. I had him 3 weeks when I found out the story of his past.If he was re-homed the Grandmothers asked if the new owner could let them know how the dog was, that's how I found out Cody belonged to a child that was now 11 years old. I cried for him and this little girl, how do you take a beloved pet from a child.

Once a year I still send pictures and videos to the grandmother.

He was a gift to me from my vet. My vet got him better, he had a Stricture that needed major surgery. My vet performed the surgery at no cost to me. My city boy is a country boy 6 years now and lives the life of a true terrier lol.

Omg that’s big. I got him from a breeder who informed me of the parents size being 4 and 8 pounds. But I guess he lied. When I went to get him I was just excited to get him and forgot to ask to see the parents.
