| OMG Cody made his first score So I let Cody out on the deck to made a pee-pee, I have a few pieces of patio furniture to the left of the door, he disappears behind this furniture, then he starts chasing what I think is a mouse. I quickly go to see what he's chasing next I see is Cody in Cujo mode dragging this opossum across the deck. I am screaming to "leave it" screaming his name, screaming to "get in the house". He had it several inches above the opossums tail, faster then a speeding bullet he was under the patio table then in the corner of the deck, things were happening so fast I think the opossum was curled up. I don't know how I got through to him, he was like a possessed demon, but thank GOD he let the animal go and went in the house on command. I checked him for any bites, thankfully he's ok. I am still shaking, he could have gotten shredded by the opossums teeth or nails. I am living here 18 years and this is the first time a opossum has ever gotten on the deck, I don't know how it got on it. Now day and night I will go out first to check the deck is free of critters before letting devil dog out. Please, anyone that has outdoor furniture that blocks your view when your pup goes out check the area first, these terriers are fast and furious. I am shaking and he is begging to go out and finish the job. The opossum was gone, after I checked Cody for any wounds I went out to make sure that animal was gone or dead

| OMG! I am so glad that Cody escaped without injury. They are really aggressive animals when cornered!

| Poor you and poor opossum. Glad everyone is ok. We ended up moving our stuff off the deck because in the summer we gets lots of black snakes.

| What a little Hunting Terrier your boy is! Oh the Terriers! Yes. Indeed they will sure try to Tango and Tangle with animals larger than themselves. We sure have to watch out for them. It's a scary moment when these little ones do what they were bred to do.....and yet, we have to admire them somewhat too. |

The lil stinker, when he let it go he turned and gave me that mama what's up innocent look. The rest of the night he pretended he needed to go out to make, I am now going out first to make sure the deck is free of any critters. He didn't have to make, he kept going to the corner where he let it go.

It hasn't fazed this kid at all, every time he goes out he heads to that corner sniffing and sniffing. Quote:

| Opossums are actually very docile and rarely attack. They will show their teeth and hiss to try and scare away whatever is messing with them. They prefer to escape rather then fight. Not that they wouldn’t if absolutely necessary but they aren’t an aggressive animal. Back when we lived at our old house when Callie was much much younger there was one in our back yard it was showing it’s teeth and hissing certainly looks scary . Callie knew not to get to close and just circled it. I finally got her inside without issue. They are definitely not the most attractive animal lol.
