| Lamb & Rice? Mentioned yesterday to my daughter that Gidget is having a real "scratching" issue. No fleas -- just itching and biting her hair. She said she had seen an article that many dogs are allergic to the chicken products found in many dog food. It was recommended that lamb/salmon with rice be fed instead. She switched (gradually of course) Malla to the lamb and rice. She said the itching/biting has stopped and her coat is must softer. Any thoughts on feeding lamb/salmon with rice to your furbaby. |

| Food allergies are very rare most allergies are environmental. Have you taken her to the vet? I would look at getting a cytopoint shot.

| I use lamb and salmon for my two dogs. I didn't do it for allergies but I found that Thumper would not eat the chicken dry food after a while so I just feed him lamb. Bella gets Salmon as that is what I started her on. I found it keeps her coat shiny with the fish oil in the food.

Did some checking and found Nulo Freestyle Small Breed Salmon and Red Lentils. Has a good rating and good ingredients. Can be found on Amazon and Pet Smart carries it in their stores. Have ordered it and will start the transfer over on Monday. Got some good reviews from other parents. I'll keep you posted on how she does. | |

| That doesn’t mean that is where the ingredients come from.

| Well for many years Callie was on Royal Canin prescription food and as I got the others I just switched them to that after they were puppies. Ever since Joey was on it though he has had random tummy issues and Penny was having to have her anal glands emptied every couple months. It led me to really look and their food and soy is a huge ingredient in it and I researched it and many dogs are actually very reactive and don’t tolerate soy well. So with Callie’s IBD I wanted to stay with a limited ingredient diet but it had to be small breed because Penny won’t eat big pieces. Well I tried one of the safer Natural Balance one with Duck and everyone liked it except Ollie. Then I tried Wellness small breed limited and no one really liked that. I finally gave in and went back to a Royal Canin food but not a prescription, it’s small breed sensitive digestion. They all love it! Callie has much less gas and better poos, no more tummy issues for Joey and I haven’t had anal issues with Penny. Ollie’s picky but he really really loves Royal Canin.
