| ![]() Is anyone using Interceptor Plus for heartworm prevention? I have only used Heartgard for my doggies, but my vet sent some home with me yesterday. Thought I should check it out.

| ![]() We used to use Heartgard, but our vet changed us over to Intereptor Plus a few years back. We are pleased with it, and it never upsets their stomachs. Heartgard used to give our boys occasional loose stool issues the next day, but not with Interceptor.

| ![]() I used to before they stopped making it for a few years. Now I use heart guard and have for a long long time. I may switch back after I run out but I have enough until January. My youngest is a fight to take heart guard so it would be easier probably to get it into him.

| ![]() Thanks for your response, I'm glad there are not negative reviews. My poor little Karlee just had a dental cleaning, and they pulled all but 4 teeth. Several of her teeth were loose when they started scraping, and a few had already fallen out. They really got bad quick over the last year. She is healing fine and eats softer food, so it will be ok.

| ![]() I received an email notice from my vet’s office this morning about heartworm/flea medications. It says the manufacturer of Interceptor is phasing it out of production, and their office is substituting Simparica Trio for patients on Interceptor. I recall there was a thread here a month or two ago, with concerns about Simparica Trio because it was so recently approved so hadn’t been widely used yet. Just wondering: have those of you with smaller yorkies had success/problems with heartworm/flea meds? I’m always leery of giving meds that are for a dog “up to 25 pounds” to a four pound dog. It seems to be pushing the limits of safety for a very small animal. |
