| I'm so nervous... I'm taking Bunjee to the vet for his neutering in 8 hours and 5 mins. I so nervous about how he'll be after the procedure. He was having so much fun just bouncing and running around today. I won't be able to pick him up until late afternoon, which is about 9 hours, the longest I've been without him since I got him... I don't think puppies are the only ones who get separation anexiety. |

| Puppies bounce back I was a bit worried when I dropped my little guy off at the vets. He was always full of energy and wanted to play all the time. I worried that he would be calm and serene all of the sudden. These thoughts were reinforced a bit after I picked him up later. Lick hardly moved for about the first two hours I had him home. After that he was a terror once again. The only thing I had to worry about was him hurting himself or damaging his stiches as he tried to jump around and play. I didn't really worry about him slowing down after that. In fact, I wish he would have the first couple of days because of the stitches. Since his cut has healed I haven't really noticed a difference in overall behavior or energy levels. I will say that he doesn't display his "manhood" as much, which isn't a bad thing as I have a lot of company. He doesn't lift his leg as much either. |

| THanks for the well wishes everyone. I know it'll be okay. But that doesn't stop me from worrying! I took him out today and he was so excited about going outside. He even got to sit up in the carrier on the passenger seat. At the pet hospital, he's still happy go lucky sniffing the other dogs there who are also being dropped off for one procedure or another. He was perfectly fine until the nurse started to lead him away from me and to the kennel area of the hospital. He kept looking behind him and sitting down draggin on the leash when he sees that I'm not going with him. I ended up walking with the nurse to the door of the kennel area and he gladly followed. But once through the doors, he looked behind him, doesn't see me, and started dragging again. No amount of coaxing from the nurse helped. She had to pick him up to go forward. It's sooo sad!!! At the last minute, I changed my mind about having his front dewclaws removed. And because he had a bad reaction to his last set of shots, the vet decided not to give him his scheduled shots today. We'll just come back for them another day. Pickup time is 4pm.... it's going to be a long day!!!! Any recommendations on what I should have with me when I go pick him up? Any advice on home recovery care? |

| I always picked mine up in either their small crate (full of towels so it is comfortable and mine opens from the top) or my over the sling carrier. The little ones are really out of it at that time so it is whatever you are comfortable that you can lift them out very gently. Then once home I would put them in their bed with a blanket over them so they do not catch a chill if they are still sleeping. A number of times mine would wake up and want some water and just a little food as they have not have either for a very long time (go light on food/water). They might want to go the bathroom but for the most part after a little water/food they go right back to their bed and go back to sleep. Really your little one should do fine and the next morning they are usually back to being a terror P.S. It is safer for your little baby not to have its paws on the ground at a vets office as to many diseases can be picked up from the sick dogs coming in. My vet always told me to never put one of my Yorkies on the ground and make sure the exam table has been cleaned off from the previous dog/cat.

Let us know how it went... usually our vet wants them to spend the night there (they have someone there) but he said with lilly, we should pick her up, she is very attached to me, and he doesn't think she would do well staying without us (me and her dog mom) it would be too stressful. So we will be picking her up and keeping her quiet the rest of the night at home. I hope your pup is doing well... I understand you being worried, I am also. | |
